i think you could get your heads planed....not sure how much.....and get the stock pistons fly cut .....then get your cams reprofiled to make up for the differance in the timming belts......im sure some one who knows more will corect this if im way out to lunch......but you (if it works) could get your C/R way up there...lol

In all honesty, if this machine was any meaner, I would'nt have any buisness riding it. If my wife finds out I've been runnin 92 in 2nd cog, she'll whoop me any way.

So I removed the baffles out of the exhaust so I could actually here it run. Has a great tone but not to loud. I wound it to about 10grand in 1st then the same in 2nd, let off and slowed down quik to turn in my drive and upon returning to idol, it had a VIOLENT BACKFIRE. The breather box that i made a cap for works as a crossover beetween the two mixers so they can share each others air and fuel. This big large area had the pre-mixed fuel and it exploded and swelled the aluminum plate i made to cap it with enough to stick my fingers between the screws. It almost pushed it over the screws. I will now be removing the rounded screen things inside the box and cap each carb at that spot individually so no more pre-mix gas can linger in that large area.

I wonder why it backfired? Could it be cause i removed my baffles?

I also had my crankcase vent going into the box, now i will have no where to put it. What do most folks do with the crankcase vent when they put the single carbs or dual webers on these wings? Will it be o.k. to just put a filter on the end or do these machines have lots of blow by and need some sort of pcv valve?

I sell propane at work (hardware store) and have wondered about a conversion on a bike and my truck. Great work! It will be interesting to see how the finished product comes out?

11,000rpm, 10,000rpm  Red line on GL1000 is about 8500rpm. I'm not knocking you, I like rpm too but why keep abusing this poor old girl like this? Continued high rpm and the backfire will be the least of your worries. ;)

say robin1731 do you have any pics of the damage a valve makes hen it meets a piston due to valve float? this might be a good place to post it...lol also i was wondering what you have your timming set at on that wing? 12 to 15 degrees advance? one thing i do like about propane....110 octane.......and it runs just like fuel injection.....due to it being a compressed gas. but with out the wiring hasels.
hope you dont think im in any way bad mouthing you for the high rpm,s....just amazed that its held all its parts in the places they should be....and trying to warn you f the dangers of doing that.....hell i dont want your bike to blow up be for all the R&D is done...lol i would love to run 110 octane and have the throttle response on FI .

I know i have to stop the high rpms. Sometimes I just can't help it. Its kinda like over eating to me.

I got my intake redesigned this evening. After church 2night, I'm gonna see if it will still run. I'm thinking it may have been more than a backfire, though it did turn over smooth after, it just would'nt start due to sucking to much air. It even blew off one of the coolant lines going to my propane vaporizer. Antifreeze was spraying all over the exhaust.

It does collapse the lifters after 11grand and 2 seconds.

Can the timing be adjusted on the 1200? If so i think i can get a little more power out of it. And is the vacum line going to the ignition control module a spark advance?

It fired right up. Did'nt have alot of time to mess with it but i think its gonna be allright.

The dakota digital speedo/tach has a programable red line with a wire to light up a big light. I wonder if i can use that wire to be a sorta rev limiter in my ignition?

I've got my back fender built and lights on. I gotta get some pics posted. I also removed the rear air shocks and went with springover shocks from a gl1500. I made the rear fender mount to the swing arm and I done put a dent in it from bottoming. The 1500 shocks are definately not gonna let it bottom, its about like a hardtail now. I coulda put more air in the original shocks but they're puking out too much oil.
