Re: Pop's Bike
ole496 I agree, it is starting to look great. Makes me wonder why I left it in the barn for the last 5 years.

Re: Pop's Bike
Easter, I am always willing to share. This carb conversion will be my first, so I think it might be more like the blind leading the blind. Looking forward to hearing it run. I have been finishing up the linkage this week and I will post some pics when it is complete.

Re: Pop's Bike
Subscribed! I am anxious to see how your carb conversion goes...I have yet to see detailed instructions on those, though it seems (?) straight forward.
-edit- some quick research on the subject and I don't think it's quite "straight forward" Probably a little more carb theory than I could handle at this stage

Re: Pop's Bike
The linkage for the webers is where I ventured off the path and tried something a little different. I wanted to keep some of the advantages of the original honda linkage system. The original system had a push pull 2 cable system that I liked, it also had a return spring built in that helped and cleaned up the looks a bit. It also had a central screw for setting the idle rpm that I thought might be useful. In the back of my mind, I thought that if it did not work out I could always scrap it and build the one in the instructions. I am fortunate to have access to the lathes and milling machines for this project and realize that it could not be built with out them. It still might need some tweeks here and there but it looks like it might work. The wide open throttle position is attained with about 1/3 of a turn on the grip, it has a good feel and snaps back quickly to the idle position. What do you guys think?

Re: Pop's Bike
I'm really enjoying this one. Wide whitewalls. Webers sticking up proudly. Nice stance. I'm following!

Re: Pop's Bike
Looks great! 1/3 turn to WOT might be a little abrupt though...supposidly the Webers are a little twitchy as well, so you might consider a little more turn to lessen the abruptness. Course, maybe you just came up with a great new alternative! Have to try it out and see I guess.
Good lookin' manifolds...I had mine powder coated chrome...not as shiny as real chrome, more like polished aluminium.

Re: Pop's Bike
I do not think you will like the throttle progression with only 1/3 rotation for travel, seems like maintaining a speed would be a PITA. Seems like it would be relatively easy to slow it back down.

Re: Pop's Bike
My bad, took a look at mine and it turns about 1/3rd. So seems like you are good to go.
