I got a dual head light I am going to install. I know it is a bit different for these bikes, but I like the look. I'll post pics after I install it.

The new Sheriffs patrol Goldwings have the dual headlights so you will be in good company.

Now that the rear shocks have lowered it about 1 1/4 inch I am finding that putting it on the center stand is DIFFICULT. So I'm thinking I need to shorten the center stand a bit. I use to have a Virago I had lowered and I had to shorten the side stand after lowering. Is there any reason I should not do this to the GW center stand?

Dragon Wing is so difficult to get on the center stand even at or near original height that I just eliminated the stand all together on the Just Trash project.

I wanted to change the handle bars for a different look. I like the look of clip ons but I am 40 and I like long rides so I need to do something that my back can live with. I had an extra set of drag bars (shouldn't it be "a drag bar--singular?). So i put that on and the controls did not have enough room. So i looked online and debated buying some bars in the $50-$70 range. Then I decided to try and hack my stock bars to look like the ones i was looking at online. So here are some pics of what I did.

I used the section I cut out to measure the other side so they would be even. Then I welded the pieces on one side.

After cutting and welding the other side, I felt the bars were too wide overall so I then cut about an inch and a half off each end. I first was going to cut a three inch section out the middle but realized that I could not cut more than one inch out the middle because any more than that would put the bends at odds with the bar clamps. The ends are solid so it was a bit of a job to cut them. I think the inserts are to reduce vibration. I've also heard of people using cement inside bars to reduce vibration. I am happy with the results. I know a more radical design would have looked better to me but I wanted to keep the strain on my back to a minimum.

looks good. you don't need the weight in the bar ends anyway. goldwings don't vibrate

Just got my hands on a set of wheels from an '83. I don't like the look of the comstars. The bonus is the previous owner had put new Honda bearings and new Dunlaps. I'll post pics when I get them installed.

Are you still planning on the dual headlamp? Bars look good, but that was a lot of work but welding looks to be easy for you.

I am still planning to go with the dual headlight. I will need to put all the wiring under the faux tank because there is not much room in the dual buckets. I'll tackle that soon.
