Went for the longest ride yet today @ about 50 miles. No fuel filter issues for the whole ride and there are still no visible particles in the filter. Hopefully I am done with the clogging issues :)

The bike ran excellently. I still need to tune the idle a bit and the acceleration enrichment, but as of right now I have no regrets with this conversion.

Also, sorace, I ordered this to put together on this rainy weekend. http://www.amazon.com/JYE-DSO-138-Open- ... B00WAQGGZA

Not super capable, but should be great for audio frequency and vehicle diagnostic work. The price is certainly right. I also got my old D10 Tektronix working, but it is too big to haul around. I'm looking forward to the portability of the DSO138. I just want to check my ignition waveform to make sure it matches the spice model.

I couldn't wait....

It seems to be working fine off of the internal test signal (and sensing the background 60 hz hum of the house)

It still needs a bath to get rid of all the flux. I'll also try to make a case for it. It should be quite good at anything automotive.

And a nice bright display, amazing for $28 total (no including labor of course).
Should work well for measuring automotive waveforms. My bike's max freq needed is probably 3 khtz (24 tooth trigger wheel at 7500 rpm).

Funny you should mention that. I think that is the best feature. The screen really is excellent.

I finished making the case for the scope on my reprap.

I think it came out quite nice. It has a 9V battery or adapter for power.

Cool 3d printed case! Was the measurement during cranking?

Yes, this was cranking.

I didn't have enough time to do the full study but the next step is to check it at different operating parameters.

The opto has some operating characteristics. If I know the voltage during cranking (or running), I should be able to calculate the amount of current that the circuit is pulling (through my known resistances). That's the goal anyway :)

I still need to interpret the opto datasheet, which is here:

http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/149/MOC205M-191612.pdf

It's applied in the microsquirt here:

Continuing the open-source spirit, I just ordered this: http://www.14point7.com/products/slc-free

Hopefully this will help me dial in the tune. It seems just about right for what I need.

Nice find, looks like less than $90 for sensor and controller!
I've ordered parts from Canada recently, no problems.

Today was a cooler day, about 60 and humid/damp as anything. I went for a short ride and had some major stumbles during hard acceleration. What is interesting is that yesterday during the low humidity/hot temperature (90's) it was running great.

When I got back the intake was ice cold and soaked with condensation. I think I have/will have some icing issues. Looks like I need to heat my manifold.

To do this, I ordered the thermostat housing and water pump housing off of a GL1200 SEI, which has water inlet/outlets. In addition, it boasts a 2-wire temperature sensor suitable for EFI, and a temperature sensor suitable for the gauge. I've been using my single wire gauge sender as my my main coolant sensor. It works, but I had to turn up the data averaging significantly to reduce the noise on that channel.

The Geo metro throttle body is coolant-heated in the vehicle, so it should be relatively easy to plumb this up.

I used an early version of the Spartan wideband that 14point7 sells for a while. Worked well, took a while for it to show up though since he was building them to order. Not sure if that's the case now though.

I looked at using the LTD/SEI thermostat housing also, in order to use its bosch type coolant sensor. But it's not drilled for the GL1100 coolant bypass passage in the block, so gave up on it. Guess that won't be a problem on yours, though, since you're also using the matching pump cover and external line.
