Yes that's powder coating correct, but to all successfull paint projects there's a ground work to do to get the best result. As you can see on previous pictures page 2, GL1000 -78 tank, preparing for painting (I)II and II(II) I used the gasburner. Carefully heating of the old surface so I could use to wipe with a cloth. That only works well on the free tank surface where the tank wall is thin. For thicker parts like mount brakets and the compressed seam I used sand blast and for rust spots point blast. The did I handit in for powder coating and got it back with good result.

Regarding the frame it was cleaned in a shot-blasting method that is based on a high speed rotation shovel wheels throwing particles of steel sand type of blast media.
In the picture below you see the rail where the GL frame hanged before it got steel naked.
S6301875.JPG
After blast session of the frame a session of degreaser was used for the tank and battery console as well to prepare for next step.

Then it was time for the paint session that took place in the powder coating using electrostatic charge and finally in to the own at +200 Celsius (392 F).

Luckely it was not yellow when they painted my frame but black as you have seen.

Just like to add som winter picture from this morning on my way to work, the snow have arrived early.

Ick, snow.

I fixed your codes. You can either use attachments (as done above) --or-- you must upload your pics to the web (a hosting service or an album on NGW) and then you can use the phpBB [img] codes. You can not use both.

There is a tutorial button in my sig: post pics.

Well it's easy when you get the help you can, handy and easy to fix the thing that goes wrong.
Thank's Roady :-D

I think still my two years will be a fight of knowledge, time to do things right after failing twice. It takes aswell time to fix the place to be at for a proper renovation.
So progress is shifting!

Hi Fred,

Yes I was there and where invited to the BBQ but could only make it to the Saturday.
When I went by the NGW boot at swap area I meet Whiskerfish, Shaupafish and Roady and a few more.
A close lookup at the boot can be found in the album.
http://www.ngwclub.com/gallery/v/wingma ... L.JPG.html

I looked at the Exhaust system silencer left and right with balance pipe shown on the table behind Whiskerfish but I will try to get mine from UK later during spring.

PS: Don't matter about time and date in pictures, my camera is kidding me on this.
