i'm in sydney, a suburb called parramatta, tons of motorcyclists, i'm thinking about opening a motorcycle custom D.I.Y centre...i'm in prime position, but i'll need a super bike mechanic as i know i don't have a complete knowledge of motor cycles, my role would be promotions & import parts, i can fibre glass and do most of mechanics but my weakness is the electrical wiring...but i think this maybe a good angle to create business growth...as like you & i...there would be a huge pool of people who'd like to get thier hands dirty & create their dream...

Thats funny...I've been thinking about the DIY shop idea myself. I agree with your theory that there are alot of people that don't have the resources whether its "space, tools, or the expertise" ....I think if you can pull it off its worth a try.

Sydney is one of the nicest cities I've ever seen in the world...been there...loved it! I still talk about the night views of the city around the harbor bridge and the public transportation system...I've never seen anything like it...amazing! If I plan to visit Sydney again...I'll let you know..maybe we can meet up.

your welcome anytime here...
i think its a good idea, my theory is that getting people involved into doing their own bike, they're always going to bring someone with them, & those people attached to the potenial client will get bitten by the D.Y.I bug and follow suit...i have a huge brick shed & plenty of space to work with..

Check out the thread below.

These guys in Vancouver BC Canada seem to be doing something just like that. I do think it is a good idea, if you have a big population base close by.

was able to get the side covers and panels on today..just had a few minutes....sooo close! The next big hurdle is the clubmans....honestly I'm dreading it. I think I came up with a way to adjust the stops to prevent the bars from hitting the covers.....but.....I would have to take the front end off to do it. Still struggling with what to do on the bars....I powdercoated the clubmans..ready to go...sigh. I hope I can get them to work...

I love that paint scheme, be sure to document the clubman's, as I am going to put some on my bike. After I get her running real good.

Thank you...I'll let you know what I end up doing...I'm planning on working on the bars on sunday. The bars I purchased have 6.5 inch center spacing and they are a little longer which seems to help alot..but not enough without modifying something.

If your front end is apart I think I've thought of a way to make an "adjustable" stop. It would require a steady hand and patience but I think it is very doable. You could drill a hole on the steering neck pointing at the steering stop use a tap to thread it...then put a hardened self tapping bolt through it so the steering stops hit the protruding bolt vs. the neck stop. I don't think it would need to be a very beefy bolt if the contact points hit properly. I thought of this after I assembled the front end or I would try it. I like the solution because you would be able adjust the stops according to your placement of the bars and comfort level after the bike is assembled.

Thats a good idea. Looking forward to seeing how yours comes out. Also I am thinking about if I should be changing out brake lines and cables or if I will just be able to hide the slack? I am changing my brake lines anyways, tires and going thru the brakes this week.

Yep...valid concerns....I'll let you know how it go's. I'll try to leave the lengths alone if I can...my only real concern are the throttle cables binding...
