Here are a few better pictures with the seat mounted up. Started painting the frame today, after that will be the swingarm, wheels, and final drive. Once that is all finished i need to rebuild the rear caliper, get an ebc disc, and new lines. After that its finally on to the fuel injection.

Will have some updates in a day or two but found this tonight...

I guess it was sold on eBay a few years ago. One of the ways I'm thinking of mounting the turbos. The bike in the pic is just a single turbo.

You should be able to remove that frame section you were asking about. I dont think it does anything other than support the passenger back there.
I found the end of the internet

My '75 project has been moving kind of slow since I still had a few things to finish on the other two bikes but interestingly I ordered the same seat/tail piece as yours (or something very similar). I am pleased to see how good it looks on your bike. I was afraid the Busa forks would be too short but it looks like they are working out perfectly for you.

where did you order the seat from? I got mine from hotwingglass.com. If thats the one you got then you shouldnt need any trimming near the front to get it to fit since its made for the first gens. As far as the forks go, I'm a little concerned about ground clearance once the engine is mounted but I don't think it should be a big issue.

------------------

a little update, been busy the last few days. Disassembed/stripped/painted rear master and caliper. Painted wheels, frame(including removable section), rear caliper "bar", lower triple clamp. I used Satin Black VHT chasis and roll bar paint on everything except the caliper and master, which was VHT caliper paint.

Waiting to see if the All Balls kit will work for the swingarm with the races that are in there before I paint it.

For the most part I'm ready to start cleaning up the engine, maybe some paint on it. Then i'll get started on the fuel injection. Hoping to have a running bike, sans turbos, within 2-3 months.

I bought the seat/pan/whatever from a private individual so don't know manufacturer. Just kind of gamble about fit. One of the things I have learned recently on this site is that there is such a thing as caliper paint. Wondered why my paint kept dissolving when I tried to bleed the calipers! Well, this time I know better. Our front wheels are going to look a lot alike too! Just using a five spoke comstar on the back though. Am leaning to black powder coat. Maybe an all black engine too? I go back and forth. I definitely wont be trying fuel injection or turbos though--that is way outside my comfort zone. Looking forward to following the rest of your build.

i have an extra 'busa wheel if you're planning to go that route. really nice shape, but I can't use it. bought it before i realized my forks are GSXR 1000. a few MM off on bearing space and rotor spacing also.

Thanks but I went ahead with the '94 Honda wheel and rotors to match the forks. I really wanted wire spokes but this will do at least for now.

started cleaning up the engine, probably my least favorite part so far of this build. Tough getting in all those nooks and crannies! nothing new to see for most of you but figured i'd post anyway.

ordered timing belts, clutch/springs, front gasket kit, and a trigger wheel for the EFI.

figured it was time for an update. no pictures though since its just common work.

cleaned up transmission cover and replaced gaskets/o-rings. new timing belts.

started on the clutch but i guess the tool i bought on ebay is for the gl1000's since its 20mm/24mm. the ebay ad said for the 1100 but its a 26mm. ordered clutch cover gasket, honda clutch tool, and an oil filter.

in the mean time i think i'll get the GL1200 efi stuff fit, probably will start cutting tomorrow.

once i get the clutch done i'll touch up the engine paint. then i'll be in Costa Rica for a week. Once I get back I'll start hitting the EFI hard and hope to have the bike mostly together and ready to crank sometime in June. Seems so far off but time sure is flying. Hard to believe I've been at it for 4 months now

I know the EFI and turbos are what everyone is waiting on so until then...

Got started on the fuel injection waiting for some parts for the clutch change. Fit the assembly from an 85 GL1200 LTD, cut the plenum, and the JB weld is currently curing. Thought about brazing it but I'll probably end up eventually going to a custom manifold with a single throttle body. Shopping around for some better fuel injectors that will fit. Not much work done but its a start.

Hope to have the engine ready to go in the frame for when I get back from my trip.
