I did finally sell my '84 Nighthawk here in California. I'm commited to stay here house sitting my friend's place until Aug. 8th. No bike available here in CA for me to ride to WA to what will no doubt be a great rendezvous.

I'm out. Appears the 83 must have a cracked head as I still have white smoke from the right side after replacing head gaskets.

Took a ride tonight and the steam/smoke has cleared. Appears to have just been a build up in the exhaust that needed a good run to burn out. Bike is running cooler than ever, no steam at shut down or start up. Praise be to the golden wing! But now I have a leaky fork seal to deal with. Still in the running for the west run, maybe a delayed start. We'll see how it plays out from here. If I had already paid the fee, I wouldn't be going for sure !!
