Re: My Preservation restoration
I rode the 75 to work today, got it up to 65 MPH and the front tire seems to be OK it ran great I just have to lower the idle a bit.
the ride is 18 miles one way, on the way home I'll take the long way and see how it goes.
I'm going to enter it into the bike show Sept. 8th 2013 at Rice-O-Rama in Oxford Ma.

Re: My Preservation restoration
The ride home from work was great the bike runs so smooth and is so quiet, it shifts up and down with no effort at all, the clutch action is smooth.
When I got home I let it idle in the driveway, got a screw driver to lower the idle a bit and the fan came on so I know that works now.
I'm very pleased overall with the outcome of the bike. After sitting in the garage for the last ten years I can't beleive how good it runs.
Thank You to everyone on this board for your kind words and help I realy appreciate it.
A special thanks to Randakk Cycle Shakk for his great Master Carb rebuild kit, video, fuel filter and float gauge.

Re: My Preservation restoration
I went to Rice O Rama last Sunday, had a blast. I entered the 75 in the show and got a trophy for the bike with the highest milage.
I got a few good deals in the fle market too. All and all a great day.

Re: My Preservation restoration
So last fall I got the bike ready for the winter, I filled the gas tank added stable, shut the petcock ran the bike till it stalled to empty the carbs, took the battery out, cleaned the bike and covered it up.
Last weekend, uncovered it, put the battery back in, checked all the fluids, turned the petcock on, with the kill switch off I just hit the starter button till I had oil pressure, flipped the kill switch to run, pulled the choke, hit the starter and it started like it was just running five minutes ago. I couldnt beleive it it started better than my Harley for the first start of the season. I took it for a ride and it runs so nice.

Re: My Preservation restoration
Dave,
I've been following your thread since you first posted and just re-read the whole thing. Cudos to you for your persistence and terrific results.
Your thread is an excellent, well documented example of the cost (and significant effort) involved to restore these machines to a fine mechanical and cosmetic condition. And, it continues to support my belief that these bikes, in excellent condition, don't fetch the selling price that they should. Had you not 'stolen' this bike at the point of sale, you'd have now been into it well in excess of 5K, an amount that could never be recovered if it were to be sold on eBay tomorrow. And THAT is a sad state of affairs.
