Ordered a new piston and rings. I got the first oversize and dropped it off at my friend Tom's house last night. He has a buddy that will have it bored out for me. In the meantime I got some other parts and my wish list is dwindling. I got the wheels and tail light cleaned up, primed and final coat of "chrome" paint. Not concours work, but not bad either. I think it will be a 5 to 7 footer.
I also took the carb apart. It did not look too bad. I am sure glad I cut my teeth on the easier Goldwing carbs before attacking this bad boy!

I got my tires and throttle grip today. This is the first time I am going to attempt to mount tires on the rims. For every other project I have had someone else do it. The tires are the same for front and back. The tread does not appear to have a forward and back. There are no arrows on the tires indicating direction. Is there a correct direction to mount the tires on the rims? Stupid that I don't know, but I really want to do it right the first time. Thanks for the input. ernie

With those tires there is probably no difference. If there were they would have an arrow on them. Do those take tubes? That is where you may have trouble.
I use armor-all cleaner as a lube on the bead. Don't use soapy water.

Found a right hand brake/throttle assembly that I did not have to mortgage the house for, received it, cleaned it up and realized it was slightly different than the original. After a little bit of work with the dremel tool and a 9/64 drill, PRESTO!
I then worked on the front brake at the business end. I could not figure out why the tab on the shock would not extend into the brake hub. Thought about it and could not figure it out. The rear one worked fine. Last night at 3am when I was up as usual, I wondered if the front and rear hubs are the same. NOT! The spacer is about 1/4 inch longer on one. So when I get some time I need to change front and rear.
