Either TTP or Atypical HUS, not sure yet. But Plasmapherese is helping. Today platelets up to 25K. Long road. They changed out the sedation today to what looks to be a better choice under the circumstances. Keep praying please, the road is long.

I have only seen two cases, one was a younger man and we never figured out what triggered it (he did well), the other in end stage breast CA which was the final event. For the non-medical folks. What happens is the platlets form small clots everywhere, and get used up, which then allows for bleeding. The "pupura" are the small dark spots that are on the skin from this bleeding. Plasmapheresis is a plasma exchange which stops the process.

You will get as many prayers as is needed. We are all wishing for a happy outcome, and as has been said, anything you need just ask. Many of us are a distance away, but saying that, we are just a click away.

They ruled out TTP today as Debbie's AdamTS13 was near normal. So atypical HUS is condition the detective's are trying to arrest. TY all for the prayers.

I wish for you and yours all the best. I know how scary these things can be, My grandson @ 2 1/2 years old went from healthy to the ER @ Childrens'
in 24hrs. He had ITP where his Platelets count was 1200 in the course of another day they fell to 300 and we had to prepare for the worse.
They then tried a steroid mix which brought him back to us and got his blood count back to 25k. 7 days in the hospital.
Like I said I hope for the best out come for your wife and you.
Bob/Head
PS my grandson turned 3 at the end of April and is doing fine.
