Well I mean, honestly I just called for prices. I'm not clever enough to ask if they are OEM or aftermarket..

Mind you, he looked it up in the system, so maybe? I'm also in Canada, so that might make a difference. Unless you are too.
Track T 2411 wrote:I get most of my OEM parts from Partzilla.com. I bought aftermarket valve guide seals from a seller on eBay that were higher quality than OEM for much less. Cam seals and exhaust gaskets are readily available from any auto parts store. The crossover numbers are listed in the crossover parts list sub forum...
Is there a way to know which are better quality? Or is it just shot in the dark? Don't suppose you recall where you got them?

I have no problem crossing parts over, I just don't want to go out and buy super cheap parts and have them kill my new to me bike. I don't buy a lot of stuff online so I'm leery about where to get it all.

Hard to beat the prices at Western Honda. I have the good fortune of being only 15 minutes away. But, I have to pay sales tax...

The Athena gasket kit looked pretty good to me. The only problem with it was that there were some o-rings needed for a whole engine job that weren't included. And they provide new rocker cover seals but not the ones for the bolts so my rocker covers are leaking.

And yes, I am in Canada. If you look in the field at the right below a poster's name and avatar pic you'll see their location near the bottom.

If you want to go with aftermarket gaskets you can go here, https://www.siriusconinc.com/search_res ... &x=31&y=16,. They are in Canada. I get parts from them frequently. Good people and fast shipping.

I get gates timing belts, I think Rock auto is usually the cheapest. they can go for 15-45 so shop around. Don't know how easy it is to ship to CA, but I usually go with Chaparral racing to order parts on line

Not to Canada. Including shipping, duty and exchange rate that comes to about $29.80 CAD per belt

Here's the same belt on Amazon Canada for $28.37 CAD with free shipping for orders over $35

the difficulty may be customs heading into Canada... the OEM head gaskets and O-rings are all available from Honda. The little gasket where the left cam goes through the plate behind the cam pulley is not available. But you can take that all off as a single unit and so you don't need it

Maybe Honda Canada was just out of stock when I tried to get the head gaskets.

As for the gasket that goes between the Left Cylinder Head Cover and the head, they list that as GASKET, FUEL PUMP COVER 12391-371-000 The "371" in the number indicates that it was originally made for the GL1000 but there is no way it would fit the GL1000 fuel pump as manufactured so who knows why they called it that.

Anyway, it is just a simple gasket and could easily be cut from 0.8mm gasket sheet that is available almost everywhere that sells car parts (I usually get it from Canadian Tire).

Yes but the parts drawing on the dealer's site calls the gasket that goes between the Left Cylinder Head Cover and the head a Water Pump Cover Gasket, even though it has nothing whatsoever to do with the water pump.

If the fuel pump gasket is just the thin 'paper' gasket, it should work for the front left as well. The heads are the same, just swapped side to side...

The front of the right head is the same as the rear of the left side so it takes the same gasket as the points case on the 1000.

BTW: This stuff is still fairly fresh in my mind because I just worked on the heads for my new engine a couple of months ago.
