Honda had a brake dust guard on many of their bikes in that era .... that’s what the hole was for ....

Just looked them up...I had no idea that even existed. Don’t think I’ve ever noticed one on a bike before...lucky it was there, really simplified my taskRAT wrote:Honda had a brake dust guard on many of their bikes in that era .... that’s what the hole was for ....

It's just a great looking bike with a lot of clean mods. Speedo on back is another of many good ideas I may steal Hanslehoff. Getting close now.

Got the water pump all installed no problem. Front end looking good with new paint and bolts
Fresh oil, fresh coolant, turned the key on, hit the start button and....nothing. Not a click, nothing.
Headlight dims like it should but nothing else happens. Everything else is getting power and is working perfect. I’ve never had any issues with it before and as far as I can tell everything is hooked up correctly and nothing is missing. I’m frustrated and at a bit of a loss where to start to solve this

Start with main fuse. If still a dogbone, they can be cracked and hard to notice. See if it turns over with the kick starter or a wrench. Try a jumper cable from the battery positive to the lug on the starter to confirm starter is good. Check battery cables and main ground lug behind the engine hanger. With your recent paint work, it may not be making a good ground. I have had the glass buss type fuses appear perfect, but the metal ends will spin giving intermittent contact. All minor checks. The other item that comes to mind is to check the right angle connector at the base of you key switch since you redid the forks. It may be loose or failing.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

Like the black on the oil filter and water pump inlet, looks good.
Did you do the pump with the engine in the bike?
Cheers

Thank you. Yes I did the pump with the engine in the bike. Wasn't too difficult other than getting the gasket material off the engine case was a bit of a pain having to work around the frame members and basically lying on the floor.Rednaxs60 wrote:Like the black on the oil filter and water pump inlet, looks good.

Re: *Accident Repairs / Fork Swap* 75 Wing Cafe RestoMod
I'll try turning the bike over by hand today and make sure it's not hydro locked (even tho petcock has been off). I checked the dog bone and all the connections at the battery yesterday as well as all the fuses. My ignition is no longer stock and I have redone all the connectors...so either I've mixed a wire up somewhere or something has gone bad during the last 9 months its been sitting on the lift. I am going to pick up a multi-meter today and see if I can track it down. Most frustrating part is I did almost the exact same re-wiring and front end work on my buddies cx500 and his started right up this weekericheath wrote:Start with main fuse. Moral of this story: be careful when wrapping and rerouting wires...if you pull too hard 43 year old solder might give up.
Got it soldered back together and she started up with minimal persuasion. Have a check list of things to go through and double check(did I torque this, did I fill that, etc) and then it’s maiden voyage time!

Re: *Accident Repairs / Fork Swap* 75 Wing Cafe RestoMod
First little shake down went great. Brakes and suspension need some fine tuning, but in what little time I was on she sure felt good. One thing I have yet to figure out is the tach setting for the Acewell. It has the options of 0.5, 1, 2, 3 or 4. Haven’t been able to find what it needs to be on for a GL...any ideas?
