Once you move the tape to the rear (where it obviously belongs) HERE is some more African Hillbilly chrome if you are inclined to go that way. I think they add some pizzaz even though bending the little tabs and getting it to mount decent is a pain.

I actually do really like the wire stone guards very much - you have em on White Trash right ?
I will definately get to that some time down the road, for now I'm really just concentrating on getting the bike on the road, cos summer is here and I'm missing riding time. All the custom touches I still have planned can wait for now.
I kinda like this look too:

Thanks Werner!
Wog, I agree - I've still got a huge piece of leather left over from the seat, so I want to get my upholstery guy to make me some soft throw over type saddle bags, and do some grips as well. Should look good all in the same leather

It will look terrific all in the same leather.
That link I posted is to what appear to be the stone shields (well one of them actually) that I have on mine. The other one of the pair is currently on a 72 Norton.

That one you show in that photo is more of a boulder guard than a stone guard. A question of scale I think.

Here in the NorthEasrt, we call that a Moose Guard (apologies to Pistol Pete, these are the 4 legged kind, not the 4 carb kind).
Appreciate good people: they are hard to come by.

just read your thread from nose to tail.

Fantastic job you have done and achieved.

Makes my build quite dismal in comparison. This forum makes all this possible too with all the knowledge and encouragement.

Keep up the fantastic work :-D :-D :-D

I soldier along in my tiny corner of expertise, and I enjoy the support and respect of the titans on this forum... I don't know why, maybe they are just naturally generous. But I am inspired by the genius at every level of wrenching and design that I see here. At the moment I am captured by the genius of Pedro and Norbert and Wog, but I have paid equal homage to others as I get caught up in their builds, --- just as I get caught up and share what I do best.

Accolades for you who share what you're doing... it is a gift to all of us!

Gee guys, don't quite know what to say to that.... You're way too generous :-D
Pedro, you deserve a medal for perserverence for reading the most drawn out build thread on NGWC action1
All I can say is that this forum is entirely responsible for my build. I am just good at recognizing good advice, and reasonably adept at following instructions. anim-cheers1

Hey guys, bike is 99% complete (pics all on my laptop, using the iPad now...)
Just need to get new pistons for the front brakes ( have ordered a stainless steel pair from the States) , number plate bracket & horn bracket, and it'll be done bar re painting of the shelter.

Tomorrow's plan is to fill with coolant & check for leaks, address leaking valve covers, check valve clearance, and some other minor odds and ends.
Going to attempt to start the bike on Sunday !!! dancr dancr
Really nervous though......

Any suggestions or cautions prior to starting the motor for the first time are welcome ?
( new rings, bearings, all gaskets, new water pump, new fuel pump, Randakk carb kit & fuel filter, spotless fuel tank, new fuel lines, electrics all new, Dyna S)

Wish me luck ! :crosso

I'm betting that as soon as the fuel hits the spark, she'll fire right up! :crosso

As for a suggestion, get out the video camera.
Both for the bike starting and your expression at seeing it RUN after all your work!
Great to keep these old 'Wings flying on down the road.
