Rusty spokes...you can try that silver polish, the kind that comes in a blue can with the cotton wadding inside, I forget what it's called, but you can get it at Cdn Tire in housewares....and there's also a polishing tape you can buy which is fabric strips impregnated with a dry cleaning powder...it's all a bit labour intensive, but is probably worth a shot. Me, I'm a big fan of 0000 Steel Wool.
I disassembled the rear wheel and sandblasted the spokes. They're primed and will get paint tomorrow. Hopefully will have it ready to go back together this weekend. The rear brakes are a bit of a mess. It's always fun to open up the reservoir and see a bunch of glop inside. The caliper wasn't any better. Hopefully this will all be back on this w'end as well....Once the wheels are on she can come off the stand : )

Some days it seems to be two steps forward, one step back... Going through the brakes is a good thing, anyway. Now you'll have greater confidence in them!

Finally done after more than 1 year away from it.....
I did the carbs with the Randakk kit, worked great.
Not thrilled about the seat but it'll be fine for this year. I'll streamline it next winter.
Like the 4 into 1 works well.
Smokes like hell on the sidestand, not a problem on the centerstand.
I wasn't going to use gauges on it but decided to keep controls more or less stock for now to get on the road.
Next week - dept of motor vehicles- then we put on some miles : )

I wondered where you got off to ... seems you've been quite busy and have a very nice product to show for it.

Thanks Easter. It's absolutely great to finally be riding around after 3 years of starting and stopping working on it. Life kinda gets in the way of fun projects like this. I love the positive reactions I've been getting from people locally wondering what kind of bike it is.

I've been putting on some miles. So far so good. I can hear more valve chatter on the right side. I'll adjust valve clearance tomorrow.
Did I mention that I'm really enjoying being back on 2 wheels again : )

Found a used Dyna S ignition and replaced my points. This is a great upgrade. Took a little while to get the timing right but works great now.......and I'll never have to mess with it again! Perfect.
Had a great ride this evening until throttle cable broke. Limped home 15miles or so with right hand jammed behind carb fingering the throttle while steering left handed. Looked pretty foolish I'm sure but better than being stranded....what would the wife say? : )
Now to find that spare cable in the multitude of parts boxes.

That's right, the last thing you want to do is as to ask the wife for help with the bike!
