So again, not a lot of new news. Just been watching ebay buying parts, and gathering other parts such as MC rebuild kits, and such.

So far I'm still in need of:
-A grab bar
-Front turn signals and stems
-One shelter Honda emblem (cant remember left or right...)
-Helmet locks

But in the mean time, I've done a bit of polishing and cleaning so I'll update here with some pictures.

I bought a side cover off ebay the other night for pretty cheap, So I'm going to see if I can repair these side covers. you can see one of the mounting holes is broke, and the other cover has a tab broken on the back.

Very nice job on polishing. What type of polishing compound did you use on your buffer?

I repaired the tab on my 77 side cover. I epoxied a washer in the appropriate position and it has held up well. The head of the pin basically covers up the missing part of the lower tab. The pins, spring etc are available from Honda if any are needed.
Hope for the best, expect the worst and take what comes!

I used brown and white rouge on the valve covers and I used brown white and red on the shroud and timing belt covers. Everything except the valve covers started with #0000 steel wool. Steel wool is all I used on the shocks.

Really not much to update. I've spent most of my night at work late rather than in the shop lately.

I've got the fame stripped down bare. I did find that the previous owner had already replaced the steering bearing with the tapered variety, so that's one less thing I need to do.

I pressure washed and scrubbed clean the engine and frame so they are both ready to be prepped for painting. I'll need to obviously rough up the engine before painting, and the frame needs some time spent sanding and grinding the rust off on spots.

For the most part I've been ordering parts on ebay or other sites slowing amassing everything I need.

Ok, Time for a decent update.

I finally had time to get out to the shop and do some real work. I got the frame stripped down, sand blasted, and sanded. A coat of self etching primer and a couple of coats of gloss black later, I have a new looking frame.
(My uncle stopped by and took a couple action shots...)

While I waited for paint to dry, I started tackling the rear master cylinder that did not move when I got the bike. I had been letting the circ-clip soak in pb blaster for about a month now, and tonight I finally got it to move. It took a bit of work but I finally got it all apart.

Also I pulled off the water pump cover to check out the water pump, and it appears that it has been replaced. No up/down, side-to-side, or in/out play. Just a bit of rotational play, which I assume is alright.

Next up is start prepping the engine for paint and painting the engine.

...and pictures!

Yeah, I got a little carried away with ebay buying the second seat, but now I have one for the next gl I buy...

I have a better respirator somewhere, I just couldnt find it last night. Trust me, I regret it. My snot is still black...

I just picked up a grab rail and mounting bolts on ebay today so that one thing off my list.

Now all I need:
-Seat Cover
-Front Turn signals and studs
-One Honda “tank” emblem
-Front caliper pistons

(I swear this list never gets shorter...)

So lots of work done the past couple days. This Wisconsin weather seems to be showing some mercy.

I painted the engine using Duplicolor cast coat aluminum engine enamel (with ceramic). I am VERY pleased with the results. It was a bit difficult to spay but that might have had something to do with the temperature.

Tonight I put on new timing belts, and all the covers. I just had to set the carbs on top to see how it was going to look.

I think it turned out pretty well.
