Wow, this is pretty sweet. Some friends and I at work were talking about putting twins on my bike until I told them about the frame flex. We found that the SMART cars diesel turbo would work really well for this bike. You might want to look into those. They should be fairly easy to find. Or not. I can't seem to find the turbo information I will get back to you.

Sorry, I can't seem to find anything on that right now. I had it at one point in time. I am worthless.

Re: For lack of a better name...GL1100 FITT build
Small update...Replaced the clutch and springs, got the trigger wheel mounted in place of the stock spark generator and painted the engine. Will most likely paint the valve/timing covers another color eventually. Next up will be putting the engine back in the frame and getting ready for wiring/plumbing the fuel injection. Thanks for following.

Time for an update...
Engine in frame, hall sensor mounted, fuel injection/throttle bodies mounted. All my fuel line parts, pump, regulator arrived yesterday so that will be this weekend's project.

3" Trigger wheel is from http://www.trigger-wheels.comwittmann wrote:Fantastic progress, please keep going.....

Hall sensor from http://www.diyautotune.com, hopefully it will work as they havent tested it with a wheel this small.
Ignition will be controlled by a microsquirt with quadspark module hooked to a four post wasted spark coil pack. The trigger wheel will give the rpm input for both the injection and ignition.

Re: For lack of a better name...GL1100 FITT build
time for an update...
I got curious and started playing on the computer with some color ideas and I've decided to do a white/black color scheme. Along with that came the decision to paint the engine black after all. The paint covered better than I expected, though I'll have touching up to do since it won't fully cure till the engine runs. Once I got everything painted again I started on the fuel system. Talk about overkill! The fuel system I've put together will support up to probably 600 horsepower. I don't plan on getting close to that but the pump was the cheapest external option, I didn't want to mess with mounting it in the tank. Stainless braided lines and -AN fittings make it look cool and will be more reliable than just rubber hose and clamps. I had to drill into the tank for the feed and return lines, and getting the fittings attached through the inch and a half whole proved quite the challenge. I underestimated the room that the fittings would take up so I had to improvise on my original plan for the routing of the lines. It was like putting together a puzzle, one of the more enjoyable parts of this project. I finished the fuel system today, so the next big step is to start wiring for the fuel injection. I've got plenty to keep me busy while I wait for parts to arrive, but it is just a bunch of small tedious stuff that I've been putting off.
I got a new brake disc for the rear wheel, and a new set of tires mounted. Needed some inspiration so I put the whole thing back together to get a basic roller just to see the lines again. It's shaping up great, I really like the way it's turning out.
What's left before it's ready to start for the first time?
Wiring all the sensors and fuel injection components, start/kill switch, ignition switch
Have to get O2 sensors welded into the new headers
Maybe by end of August???
Engine Repainted Back together, same as some pictures from before but some updates.
