Curious what those pulleys will look like in motion, a blur of red?

Today I have a question about the tail of "Uschi".

I do not like the blue corners of the rear frame. They interfere with the view. I tried to lower the seat, but this will not work cause the tank and the Frame say no no no....
Heckproblem.jpg
This Pic was taken while bringing her home. I think i will cut the rear Fender and Color These blue Corners in black.... hoping the backside will be a Little more 'Cafe'
bringing home.jpg
another posibility is to make a smart backside like i've found somewhere in the Internet... my favorite. Ok no Wing, but so beautyful to look at this rear.

What di you think abut Uschi's backside :oops:

That's a beautiful looking engine ! Nice to see a German Wing. The first Wing I saw was in Germany where I grew up.
I remember bugging my mom to stop by the Honda Dealer in the big city just so I could stare through the window.

Harold, you could possibly cut the tail pieces of the frame off just behind the rear shock mounts, rotate them 180' and then re-weld them on. That way they will curve upwards behind the shocks and follow the contour of the seat better.
I would run with no rear fender, maybe thin LED tail light and turn signals under the seat.
Probably also drop the rear suspension an inch or so as well.

If you have access to someone with a mandril bender you could have a round tube hoop made like the traditional cafe racers have at the rear of the frame. Just a bit difficult to blend that into the pressed steel of the rear frame on our Wings...

As said, you could get rid of the fender extensions in the back...and then mount a shorty fender (alla Ducati perhaps?) to the swingarm. That would get rid of the unslghtly gap between the fender and the tire. You might have to pull the fender to change tires, but that isn't a show stopper.

Here is the Lady in Red. It is my personal opinion as a card carrying Italian that this is the nicest butt in motorcycling and the front ain't bad either.

Hello at all,

thanks for the tips....

@Norbert:
I really think about your proposal... my neighbor has a welding device dancr
I will make a template out of cardboard and test it .... I then make a picture and put it in here.

@gregforesi:
I'm too oldscholl to Mount such modern things at th bike.... the modern BMW GS have These Kind of rearfenders.
But the Ducati Diavolo in your pic is a real devil. A friend of mine will take These bike for a testride in the mountains. He was absolutly satisfied after this ride. He told me. that this bike will not only called the devil "Diavolo", it is a devil... but the most guys that i know had this bike in black ... the red Color Sound more like "Diavolo" devil1

I like the italian bikes like Ducati, MotoGuzzi and MV Augusta.... my Little brother owns an old 750SS Ducati of Cours in red hehe. I love to ride his bike.

@theburgundian:
thanks, but i want this seat for Uschi. It's an old italian Giuliari sportseat.

but on this snowy sundayafternoon i have time to think about your ideas...

Greetings
Harald

I made a little Photoshop drawing of the rear frame arms flipped over - if you take the left and flip it upside down and weld onto the right side and vice versa it should work OK.
Uschi rear end.jpg
Another trick that worked for me to get the seat lower was to bend the fuel tank seam on top of the tank flat. I then also cut the front seat mount bracket lower - you'll be surprised how much lower you can then get the seat on the frame.

With the top picture in mind, you could also add a "rear loop" made of ~25mm pipe, to follow the contour of seat.. It would also protect seat outer edge and give you something to lift when using centre stand. Could be bolted to existing "ears" and if you got real clever you could incorporate small LED lights in it
