Looking good. Even with a little vw carb you have to up the idle to 1150 rpm to put the engine in the minimum cfm range for proper idle on the car carburetor. I wonder if you can dial that big thing down enough for 1100cc's at a higher than stock idle rpm. Doesn't matter, it'll run just might have problems with low idle.

You mention that blower looking air cleaner is custom made? I saw a similar looking air cleaner on a Harley today, wondering if you modded something like that or started from scratch? I might think about a similar air cleaner on my vw carb if I can find one that isn't too expensive, but knowing the price on Harley aftermarket stuff it probably is too expensive for me. My carb sits inside the fake tank but I could have the air cleaner above it. Does it feed air from the front where it will be a raincatcher, or is the air inlet hidden underneath?

No, no....Its a Cal Custom piece from the early 70's. I got it locally, but you can get one
off Ebay.

Thanks for the comments guys, should have it finished by late August.

OK thanks, found a couple and the price isn't too bad. Any trouble finding replacement air filters to fit it? I didn't see any.

Just found this build.
It makes me smile.
I like it so much.
I have so many crazy ideas for cars and bikes in my head.
Its great to see this being built.
I have thought long and hard about a small holley conversion.
That tunnel ram design never crossed my mind.
Awesome.
And I love the cal custom scoop.
Cant hardly wait to see it finished.

Ya know Duke, I don't think anybody has done a cross-ram. It would be an interesting project.

Maybe four little downdraft solexes??? Bring them out high next to the shelter covers maybe? Some old school scoops on top??

I spent all day yesterday, finishing this bike, I have everything. The bike wouldn't fire, and I traced it down to the pulse generator. (I actually hooked up the pulse generator from my yellow bike, hit the starter on yellow bike and the plugs fired on my new bike.) My plan was to finish the bike this week-end and meet up with all the other guys at Cambridge (1/2 ride from my place) and head north with them. Now I have to pull the rear wheel, gas tank and maybe the swing arm to get at it. This project has been fighting me a fair bit lately, but I won't give up. I'll post some pictures later to-day........at this point I won't be going.
Cheers...

Well that sucks. I was really hoping to see it live and in person.
Remember to take the photos before you start taking things apart (again). I guess they will have to suffice.

Oldboy
It may be fighting back but at least you know whats wrong.
Shouldnt be long with persistance.

Greg
A crossram looks like it would be a challenge, at least the linkage.
