Well, 4 weeks out, and it looks like I am going to be able to make this trip. Likely will ride in on Friday afternoon, and head out on Sunday AM. Is everybody planning on staying at the Best Western? I didn't see that we have any special block of rooms or anything, but seems like the Best Western is still the go to? Just want to confirm before I make a reservation.

Dwelling,
We are traveling from Detroit on Wednesday and returning Saturday, so we will scout for you on Friday. If I recall correctly, there is a Thursday local ride so if you can make it earlier there are miles to be rode.

Let's start a list so we can make a plan ....
Paris Show is June 15, 16, 17 We'd probably stay in the Cambridge area as there are lots of options and its a nice
1/2 hour ride from there to the Paris Fairgrounds.
Plans will be more detailed as we go.
So far ....

ascot wrote:I just returned from having lunch with Brother Rat (yes, he paid!) and we were discussing the Paris rally 2018. We have formulated a tentative plan. On Thursday June 14, we thought that a ride to the Forks of the Credit River area would be a nice tour of the "near north" of south central Ontario. The ride would not be too technical, just a nice jaunt through the countryside. After the ride, a dinner could be planned at a local restaurant in Cambridge to make preparations for the weekend. The rally is the 15-16 and 17th. Just a reminder that if you pre-register for the rally, you are granted access to the area starting at 9am of Friday. If you register after cutoff or at the gate the you must wait until noon to enter. We will have our pop up canopy and banner among the swap vendors so people will have a spot to congregate. There is a small speedway oval with racing on the Friday night at the fair grounds for those that are interested. Saturday morning features a reliability run for vintage bikes with a stop at the Varey estate for refreshments. This run takes you on a planned route (which is self guided) along the less traveled roads in the area . For those that opt to forego the run, the swap meet will be in full swing. Think MidOhio on a smaller scale! Maybe we could have a dinner together in Paris and then head back to wherever we are staying. On Sunday morning I was hoping that I could convince Oldboy to give us a tour of the automotive shop that he manages and then participants are free to go their own way.
I think this plan holds for now .... Pete and I are trying to get together to fine tune it but have been struggling to match schedules .... maybe this week ....

I guess it always works out for the best in our having to miss because of resident graduation, but now with redwood having broken her foot three weeks ago, we would have had to drop out anyway.
