Well, to get acquainted with my new Garmin MC GPS I used it for my trip to South Padre Island and back when I went to pick up the VTX1300r. It worked great.
So the next step was to program it for the trip in July. All my stops are recorded and saved. After I did this I thought hey I have ample time to procure all the free road maps that each state DOT provides. So as I get these maps from my mail box I can check my route with each states posted construction projects projected for this year and make minor adjustments to my routes. Still plenty of planning time to get it all sewed up.
Since this is my very first cross country trip via MC and on a 43 yr old one at that. I'm attempting to make sure I leave very little to chance.
My bike is soon to be ready with Tcase finally removed. Found I was short of a couple of seals and am waiting for them. After the repairs I'll add a Vmeter and route my GPS power cables plus phone power. Just got my Sena como head set...not too sure about that. Also waiting on my rain suit and my 3L hydration system.
Not sure if I have room for the kitchen sink though.
Oh yes I am. It's how I manage things that appear to me a great challenge especially when I've never done it before. It has been said, Luck favors the prepared. It is not routine for me to venture very far and on two wheels. I've traveled all over the US, in cages and aircraft no sweat. I'm hoping my attention to detail prior to getting out on the road will help me relax and enjoy the ride when I finally venture out.
A plus for my new situation is that I'll be able to fully try out all my new gear for several medium length rides out here in ranch country where there are few cars to bother with.
I'd rather overthink...than underthink any day. But there's always something...

I'm with you, on both thoughts!
Problem is, you can only plan for what you know and for what you think you know. That last one can be the big catch!

when I am on two wheels.... I mostly try not to think

I do find that the first hundred miles of any trip, me thinks too much..............
but that fades and I do enjoy the rest of the trip.
Side note, Monies paid to the AMA for our spot(B 309 same as last year) and the passes for those that asked, hopefully this virus stuff has settled by then..............

From what I can see from the medical community is that, as this is new to humans it will take a significant amount of time before there is enough herd immunity.

According to one of our medical experts, it needs 50 million worldwide to be infected before that will happen and 5 million of those will die.
