Thanks! The front is just the stock gl1000 painted black. I think my front tire is one size over stock, which makes it fit snug. I did have to do a little body work as it was dented and creased when I got it. Part of the reason I didn't keep it chrome.Fred Camper wrote:groupus, tell us about the fenders, they look great and we need to know what you did to achieve that look.
My work on the rear fender is documented here: http://ngwclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=39798
But this is the jist of what I did:
You can see my new front (in relation to the bike) mount hole is about 2 inches ahead of the stock rear hole.groupus wrote:I cut the fender off an inch and a half to 2 inches from the stock rear mounting hole, losing about 5 in total. I drilled a couple of holes, measuring and test fitting many times. I had to repaint it because it got all scratched up, but my first paint job had crackled and it needed it anyway. I reused 2 of the rubber bushings from the taillight mounting holes with some other rubber bushings I had to make up the gap between the fender and the frame rails... All said and done, it only cost me $0.62 for lock nuts. Not too shabby.
New rear hole was made once the front could be mocked up. Reused bolts with aforementioned lock nuts and rubber bushings.
