i saw it in your build thread. My first idea was to use the original ignition key for the starter, when turned to P it had to activate the starter motor.
But finally i kinda like the idea of pushing a button to start. (and i did not want to cut up the existing ignition wiring ;) )

Hella Rallye 3000 as headlight

#77

Post by ronajon »

i'm looking for a different headlight. At a swap meat i saw Hella Rallye 3000 lights. They are mostly used for offroad driving and on trucks, but i think it will look awesome on my tracker.

can this Hella be used as a headlight, does it need to be modified, or is it just a no-go?

When we get our safety check (here in Texas) we have to show high and low beams. I don't think the driving lights have two elements. Plus probably too powerful for general road use??

I know from my jeeping days they aren't street legal over here. But a lot of things aren't street legal here and still get used all the time. In the netherlands... :dunno:

I do agree it would probably look pretty sweet.

It's really the grid/screen that makes it look cool - maybe you could remove that and make it fit your original headlight ?

the hella's has city lights and high beam, so that should be no problem.
i want to know if i can just mount them on my gl1000 or do i need to modify anything like the wiring harness?
The bulbs are 55W

i am looking for big lights larger than 8", so that's why the Hella's came up. If there are other big diameter lights (not to expensive) i wil consider them also.

55 watts should be fine. I think that was the wattage of the original high beam.

I really like the look. Would you consider this a budget build? I am inspired.

I really like those tires too but didn't have in size I wanted, so went with Distanzia. Later.

added the Hella Rallye 3000 lights. i think the looks of that big rond headlight (22cm) are great but the city light is very dim. The high beam i need to check, unfortunately the weather isn't right for riding at night today
