This is my daily rider - 1978 KZ650B -

This is my first bike - 1985 Yamaha Virago XV700N. A friend of mine gave it to me in non-running condition - that's what started this sweet addiction...

This one's pretty - 1964 Honda Dream 305; sounds and pulls like a much bigger bike...

This one's quirky; 1968 Puch 250 SGS. Don't let the looks fool you, I had this rebored with new pistons and rings and upgraded the electrical system. I kept the patina because I like it. It's a two-stroke, too. No valves! Freaked me out.

And a handful of other bikes laying around the laboratory, like the pita 1979 KZ400 H I'm working on (and if anybody has pistons, rings and a cam chain guide for that bike - or any other parts for that matter- please let me know!); my '78 GL1000 that I just got to wake up yesterday...another Puch 250 I want to bring back; a '76 KZ400 S; a Puch DS 60 scooter; ten in all, I think...

Hi 5-speed; yes, that's an earlier model of the DS-60 I have (might be a DS-50, the earlier model), and yet to restore. It's also known as the Cheetah, Sears Compact, and another name it goes by, I forget. $1000 for that little scooter is a little high, but about right, they're pretty rare. Out of the entire United States, there is ONE guy in Wisconsin, Matt Quirk, who runs Motor West Motorcycles, a business and website dedicated to the preservation of these old bikes.
https://www.motorwestmotorcycles.com/
He's very nice, and has practically everything you need for a restoration, I've bought from him many times and he always has the time to answer your questions. Here's a before and after of a red and white one I got about two years ago for $100- I went up to pick up one and he threw in the other one for free!

The front fenders are plastic, so they kind of show their age; the white one actually runs - I have the stuff to put it back together in the garage, but haven't gotten to it yet. The red one was pretty crispy - note the rotted out rear wheel - so I sold that one and decided to devote my efforts to the white one. Both of them took a lot of metal-bending and visits to the hardware store for nuts and bolts!
I couldn't find the 'correct' paint for the red one - I think it's called Salmon Red (Pink??), and it wasn't going to wind up in any Concourse shows anyway, so Rustoleum Tractor Red is what it got! It's pretty close to the original. They are both two-strokes - there is an oil measuring cup attached to the underside of the fuel cap to measure the correct amount of oil - and have a magneto starting system, a new one on me.

As you can see, I haven't gotten to the tank on the white one (yet); life has a way of putting things on hold, but I'll get to it. Repro decals are available for this scoot too, which is nice. That headlight is hard to find too. I have one, but it's dead and all one piece. I'm hoping to somehow get a more modern bulb setup when I get around to it and find one that fits - I think it's, like, four, four-and-a-half inches, a pretty weird size.

That one for sale on Facebook for $1000 is probably a good deal, if a little high; they're pretty rare. The mufflers are mounted underneath the engine and are very rare to find; and if I'm not mistaken, it's a 3-speed that shifts through the left handgrip...but parts ARE available through Motor West, and two places in Germany. And I actually have the original parts and repair manual for them too, which was a bonus.

This Spring, I finished rescue of a 1972 Triumph Trident T150V. Many non-stock parts as I didn't have the time, money, or desire to bother with a restoration. And, I doubt it would be worth what would be required to be invested. Didn't even think of painting the original color scheme (most were a purple and white that I didn't like). This one was similar to my "fence row rescues" in sad beginnings and shoddy PO work. I is now a runner, but I have an awful time with the right foot shift / left foot brake. Not enjoyable to ride. If anyone knows of someone interested, I'm only asking $4k (quite reasonable for one of these, I'm told).

That is about half or less than it would fetch over here, even though it's not all original. Even had me thinking...............

No, at 76 with two (at the moment non-running) Wings and no space it won't happen.

Yes. A PO did no favors. Chrome rockerbox covers, too.
