Nice project, lots of work. Saw your video. Cool to see that you’ve recognized you’ll need “nailers’ on the corners and ceiling. Double check your electrical codes. Around here (Michigan), we need an outlet every 8ft. Can never have too many outlets 😀. Thanks for the updates.

Yep!! Think I put outlets every 2 foot above the counter in the kitchen when I did that one. I have a couple corners that are going to prove challenging. There is nothing there to nail the Nailers to. Going to have to be creative.

Just back from Home Depot. 3 rolls of insulation (just the start) 10 2x4's and a couple sheets of OSB and 200 bucks gone. Looked at sheetrock and was stunned. The first house I remodeled (a few years ago) the rock cost $2.38 a sheet. Now the cheapest I saw was 14 a sheet. crazy Time to finish the wiring

Those are the ceiling lights I spoke of, my oldest one is 2019 but it has had no issue and if you every have to change them it is not a bad job. Just be sure the box and the light are between the same two joist LOL.

We were taught in high school that receptacles had to be every 10 feet (made sense since standard power cords were 6'). But that was 55 years ago; My recent copy of Electrical Code Simplified (Ontario)* says the current code requires them to be located so that nothing is more than 6' from a receptacle (measured into corners and without cords across doorways). And a total of no more than 12 lights & receptacles per circuit.

Since all state & provincial codes are based on the International Electrical Code I would expect things to be similar all over North America I would expect your requirements are similar. But it wouldn't hurt to check locally because some places require more.

* In Canada we have the Electrical Code Simplified books, which explain the code so the average person can understand. I would be surprised if there isn't an American equivalent.

Removed the back 2 windows and closed them off today. P.O. was a nut about spray foam insulation so getting thr windows out was a lot more involved than it should have been

Wife was off work today so I decided to abuse her while I had the chance. 16 each 12 foot sheets of rock now stacked in the house. Hopefully by next Wednesday (her next free day) I will be ready to do the ceiling. Still need to work on fur out and insulation. Did some measuring. Sadly nothing is 48 OC or plumb. More happy little challenges

Oh my, and I trust no lost days of work due to injury. Big deal for the hardest part of the job. Just pray you took lots of pictures of the wires that are now hidden.

Pretty sore this morning but I have pills for that!! dancr dancr

When we dropped off the Deadman lift at Home Depot both the door and the ceiling fan had come in so those are now sitting on the back porch. Today I need to add more screws to the rock that is up there and fit pieces in the 4 holes. In my haste yesterday many of the screws were not sunk properly so I need to go over everything. Then I can start on the interior walls. Once the pile of rock panels gets thinner I can move it to another wall so I can work on taking out that last window and framing out the door that will go there.

Next week they are calling for 3 days of 60 plus and sunshine. The need for a ride or two is getting strong!

I've drywalled ceilings twice, both 8 and both using 2x4 "T" supports (IIRC I had helpers both times too). I think if I was doing it again I'd want to use a lift.

Wife is a "couple" years older than me. She puts her whole heart into everything but still the age can not be denied. Mine either for that matter. No way we could have done this with just T bars. I did the living room in my last house that way but I had a big guy friend helping and it was about 25 years ago. The deadman lift was well worth the 60 bucks it cost to rent.

Today I got 3 of the 4 missing pieces put up on the ceiling and 3 chunks on the walls. Walls really suck. Neither square nor plumb nor spaced at 48. Almost every piece has to be custom cut. Used to be I could do a room in a day no sweat. This one is gonna take a week or more I think.

More Acetaminophen for tonight!!

Yeah, same here. I was in my 40s when I used the Ts and had healthy teenage helpers.

My neighbour was about 80 when he did his basement ceiling with a lift. Not sure if he needed help, though.

Both interior walls are done. Really frustrating how slow it is going. Some of the wall studs are off 4 inches from plumb. I am spending a ridiculous amount of time installing extra Nailers, just crazy.

I have some other chores for in the morning tomorrow but when the Wife gets home from work I plan to cut the remaining 12 footers down to 9 foot (so I can handle them alone) and reorganize that room some. Need to get setup to remove the last window and install the door.
