Pat, that is very serious. Will pray for you and the skill of all caregivers. Even a new for you runner will have issues, I think you may be better going back to this one as soon as you feel well.

Thanks Fred, I didn't know how serious it was until it happened again so now I have to be more careful than last time and give the tissue more time to heal. I was told by the doc to slow way down and kick back for 4-5 months or I might be back.

My wife had my son take the bike to a shop. He will complete it over the next 6 months when I get it back it will only need paint. They want to keep me away from it.

I am back, I am much better healed very well now. So I am going to start again on the bike. I was able to get the bike back from the shop with most of the parts. Nothing was done to it, it was shoved in the back room and forgotten. Meanwhile I was told not to worry about it. So I didn't I just went and got it. It is really dirty (grrr) I have not sorted thru the boxes but they were rifled thru and turned upside down. Someone took the carbs apart, for what? The parts were wrapped up when they got the bike/parts. So now that I vented and got it out. I can get started again.

Great to have you back! I would also be very unhappy with that shop. Sometimes it just better to DIY, even if a learning curve is required.

Unfortunately the decision to bring the bike to a shop was not mine. I was sick and my family thought is would be better for me to send the bike out to be finished, it did not go as planned.

Pat, that's to bad they took your carbs apart, after you rebuilt them. Oh well,
At least you have learned how to fix them.
I can only imagine what most shops might do with my bike, if they had the chance.
I don't think most of them have any idea how to work on the old bikes.
Please go slow, remember they family can take it back to the shop if you don't behave

Yep the shop was supposed to be good I was told, they were not. They are parts changers. The radiator is missing along with the mounting parts. Battery gone, edit:the new timing belts are missing and the idler pulleys that I made. Carbs are the thing that ticks me, I think I will send them out to get them done. I have put them back together loosely. Looks like the parts are all there but it has been awhile. I am taking a ride tomorrow to find the other missing parts.

I have lost 40lbs now all the way down to a 33 waist now feel very good, I can eat most anything now 5 small meals a day but no spicy food nuts soda, beer, alcohol. All the Pear juice I can stand. So if I stick to it I will be fine.

Just keep taking it easy and keep stress at bay. This is a long winter and you have plenty of time to work things out. You are more important than the bike timing.

Thanks Fred, I do get stressed easily, but that is just me. I went and found the parts at the shop they had misplaced the boxes. So I have everything back now.

Glad you are back. Hope you dont stress too much, but I would file a complaint with the shop and demand the parts be replaced. If the bike is titled in your name, you can threaten them with illegal salvage with your state attorney. A serious charge they would probably rather get your parts.

Well here is a little update on the project. All the painted parts are out to get painted and then striped. The have been slowly putting the carbs back together. I put the new timing belts on. I still am having health problems, and it is taking a lot longer than I want to get 100% better. Anyway I really want to get this bike running.

I was working on the 81 today and I finally found the keys to it, I put one in the switch and it would not turn at first, with a little wiggling it turned. I sprayed a little WD into the switch but I could only get it to move 1 time even with the 2 new keys I had made from the keymaker. Has anyone had this problem with the switch? Can they be taken apart to fix?

I stopped by the painters to see how it was going with the parts, they were still were I left them. So I asked whats up with the parts, we have not got to them yet. We try to squeeze them in between jobs, so when will that be? Maybe a week or three. I said ok and left with the parts. There are just to many shops that say they will do jobs and then stroke you. I have noticed this more and more in CT. I may try to do it myself.
