Hope you are doing the walls with horizontal sheets of drywall to make the seam accessible without a ladder. The ceiling is a given for latter work but not the seams between sheets. Of course there will also be some horizontal seams as one sheet is not long enough for a wall.

Do put a nice header on top of the door since that will help keep it square for the next resident.

As usual the studs on either side were substantialy off plumb. Took a bit longer than I expected but passable for now.

Is that floor register going to remain right in front of the door?
I could see it potentially causing issues in the future.

No that will be moved. I need to add a couple registers for that outer room once I close up those window areas. That will be in 2025 I suspect. Also thinking about one of those split wall systems for that room. They are priced pretty reasonably and look easy to install. It is a long way from the main HVAC Unit.

Unexpected travel came up so this project is on hold for a bit.

Looks great.
Makes my old back hurt just looking at the pics.
I'm too crippled and wore out to do big jobs like this anymore, especially ceilings!
but I do enjoy following along with your progress.

All I'll say is that I'm glad I don't have to hang drywall. Plastering the uneven walls (they actually look pretty good now) was enough for me :orange :orange :|

yea this room is gonna need a lot of mud Even with flushing things out there are still too many uneven areas. That last piece I put on that wall I was focused on the outlets and missed a 1/2 inch gap at the top so that will need some backing rod or something in it before I start mudding.

The back wall where the 2 windows were is going to take time to insulate as it is all different sizes.

Nice corner bead will take care of that little 1/2 inch gap. I like the paper/plasticy kind on a roll with a nice crease down the middle. For an inside corner like that you fold it to 60 degrees and press it into mud on both the top and side. Stays put that way. For an outside corner you fold it about 110 degrees for the same effect. Easiest to use, way better than metal.

Yea I have one doorway that will get metal corner bead. She wants the rock to go all the way to the edge. All the rest will be paper with the embedded plastic or covered in trim boards. We like the large trim. Years back I used the paper with embedded metal but if not finished immediately it would rust!
