Was going top take the LTD for the state inspection. Would only get a burp from the horn (when I hot wire the horn it is fine. Spent yesterday going back through all the wiring.... nada.... still have the neutral light on full time. Checked the red wires at the battery and then nothing worked.... so I spent this afternoon re-wring the two red wires and put a new master fuse in line. Still nothing from the horn.

Maybe use the horn wires for the starter? Nope, they would melt pretty darn quick. Does she turn over when you jump the two big terminals on the starter solenoid?

Doing some maintenance on the 1200 today. Brake light switch on the handlebars is a little touchy and sometimes the brake light stays on. Time will tell if I fixed it or not. Airing the tires presented another problem. The valve stem on the rear broke off at the rim. Gonna try to break the bead and replace the stem without removing the wheel. I've done it before and it is not easy but it is a bear to pull the wheel on this bike. It's worth a try. Hardest part is getting some free time to get it done.

Well at least the valve stem broke in a safe place "home". Could have been an accident if it separated at speed. A nuisance for sure but be thankful.

Morning dog walk through the neighborhood and see a neighbor's Chevy 1500 half in and half out of his drive laying on the A Frame with the tire all cocked up. He was just getting ready to jump on the thruway and realized he forgot something and went back to the house. Half way in the approach to his driveway the lower ball joint snapped. happening there very possibly saved his life and at a minimum saved a nasty wreck. Sometimes we get lucky!

Two safe places in a row, could have been lots worse. Years ago our kids took our car to six flags with friends. Upon leaving the park a ball joint snapped partially blocking an exit. A major inconvenience but again no one was hurt.

Popped the bead and replaced the stem with a 90 degree metal stem. Worked out pretty good as it only took about 2 hours including a short break out of the heat. It's already 86 out there this morning.

Straightening up some in the shop today and stumbled on the seat I bought last year at Vintage days. I took the gunfighter off the 75 and mounted this one up. I think I like it. It has a similar shape to the Corbin touring saddle but is softer. No idea who made it. Also I finally fixed the defective side cover spring latch. Been afraid of loosing that battery cover for years! Maybe tomorrow I can get out for a bit of a ride and test the seat.


Also the Crank shaft seals for the 1200 arrived today. Maybe tomorrow will see her on the surgery table if I get time.

200 miles into a second day with big trailer was about to pull in for fuel and heard a sound. Left rear wheel had loose lug nuts. Replaced in parking lot. Wheel is ruined

Beth couldn't hear it. But as I used to tell residents it you do not know what you are hearing an amplified stethoscope is useless

Between putting loads into the truck for tomorrows run I snuck out on the 75 for about 120 miles. I like the new seat very much. Only thing I would like to improve on is that is sits just a bit too far back. I think if I remove the tongue and move the rear brackets to just the back set of studs I can move it forward about a inch. There is close to that much gap to the shelter. That would make a good deal of a difference. I would do it today but the tool box is loaded in the truck and strapped down.
