Yeah to Al, great to see you mobile again. Hope the family is also improving.

I didn't get to ride even though it was 60 degrees, I had to make one last pass on the yard for leaves. But I have been reinstalling the stock exhaust on my 78. Like Whiskerfish referenced the ear speakers are a great addition for longer rides. Trying to quiet the bike down so I can really enjoy the tunes.

Not the bikes but the shop got a new stereo today. Picked up a "new in box" low end Onkyo receiver off FB marketplace. Shop sounds really good, maybe that will provide some motivation to do some work out there!

went out to work on the M3W. of course there is about 1.5 qts of oil in the sump. Turned it over to pump that back into the external oil sump. Instead it puked a bunch out the intake manifold. So I pulled the plug on the so-called dry sump and drained it... then it was too cold to do anything else

Started cleaning the front wheel. Anything to avoid brake work, I guess. There are about five spokes with surface rust through the cad plating. Wondering if it is Ok to remove that rust with Scotchbrite? I've miced them and the spoke diameter doesn't drop more than .01 mm after cleaning.

Spent a couple of days working on the seat from the 1800. I have an aftermarket Corbin with heat that needed some adjustment to fit me better. Peeled the cover back about half way to expose the foam. Trimmed the foam on both sides where my thighs contact the seat to help with being vertically challenged (5' 6"). That brings my legs in closer to the bike and gets my feet flat on the ground (I hope). Additionally I beefed up the foam a little to soften the contact points for my backside. The goal is to increase the time in saddle before feeling the need to stop just to get some feeling back and to comfortably reach the ground any time I had to stop. The Iron Butt ride in October convinced me that something had to change.

Maybe.
I had torn down the wheels for powder coat. I "polished" my stock spokes which had a bit of surface rust. I year later they were all covered in rust-rust. I had polished all the cadmium off leaving the steel unprotected.
Now they are stainless from an outfit in Great Britain.
That was a fairly expensive and highly annoying lesson.

Worked on the rear shocks on the 1200 today. The air assist shocks were like riding on a log wagon. Found out there was almost no fluid in them. Hung them upside down and even pumped them and and next to nothing came out. Some cleaning and refilling made all the difference in the way it rides. They still seem to hold air so I didn't mess with that part other than making sure the lines sealed up. Also found a leak in the rear wheel that forced me to change the filler valve. I'm back in business.
