Has anyone had luck repairing the stock Speedo? Mine has lost the screws holding on the faceplate and have stopped working. I'm wondering if it is as easy to replace the screw.
Thanks Al

I had the same problem and was able to repair it. Using a Dremel tool and small cut off wheel I cut the stainless steel band that holds the speedo together. To put it back I drilled a tiny hole in each end of the metal band and used safety wire to pull it tight and hold it. I located the safety wire toward the center where it's not noticeable.

I read a description of how to repair a GoldWing speedo on the Classic Wings SIG about 7 or 8 years ago and replaced the trip odometer in my GL500's speedo with one from a dead GL1000 speedo (basically what Q described except I cut the band with a razor saw and epoxied it back on). Since then I have described the procedure many times on a number of forums and have seen the same posted by many others. In other words, search NGW for it and you will probably find it.
The screws should be easy to put in as long as you have a small enough screwdriver. If you are worried about them coming out again put a tiny drop of thread locker or super glue on them before you screw them in.
