Last year the union joint part of the drive shaft did break. I bought a new one and new cir clips from CMS:

Next was to get the old one out and replace it with the new one. I had some trouble doing that, because I did follow the description from the shopmanual, which says that you have to remove the rear swing arm. I could not loosen the pivot bolts, and was looking for other ways, and managed to get the drive shaft out without removing the swing arm.
I removed the rear wheel and I removed the mufflers, too, which makes it possible to lower the swing arm so much, that I could pull the drive shaft out in the front end between the engine and the swing arm, an replace it with the new one.
