Is This a Sin? (a windshield)

I hope I'm not going to get kicked out of the club for this.

When I tore off the Winjammer I just couldn't part with the brand new -- in the plastic bag -- windscreen that came with the bike. I didn't want that fairing and really liked the nekkid look. But, with the temps getting a tad-bit-nippy lately I just had to do something to extend the riding season.

So, I shaped, cut and drilled some sheet galvanized and bolted it to the back of the screen using stainless carriage bolts with rubber grommets. Then I tacked some brackets on that attach to the headlight bolts and fashioned two braces from the outer bolts to the handlebars.

I think I'll be painting it all black and may black out the lower part of the screen. Though I'll probably leave the plastic clear because I do like the spartan look of it.

Now ... I just have to find some nice bags ... and a topbox ... sissy bar ... lots of chrome ... lights ... lots of lights ... oops ...

But I digress (usually) ... I took a little 300 mile ride up to Hannibal, Missouri last Wednesday and the behavior of the bike on the highway is so much better. I cut about 4" off the top of the screen but should have cut another 2" off because the top cuts right through my line of sight. When I take it off to finish it I'll do that too. And, of course, it will come off for next summer.

Nice idea there Steve. I vote we don't kick you out. Cuz if we did, then I'd have to kick myself out, too.

I am in that club! I think the bike was made to traverse many miles and these things are needed for that. Look at the after market items that exploded after it came out. These things help me soak up more miles with less fatique. I guess that makes me a Commandment breaker. Good fabrication job by the way.

Very nice!

It's custom, and see-through... it's hardly there at all. I wouldn't consider it "dressed..." Maybe accessorized?

Kinda like a pinup girl in high-heels... just icing on the cake.

I looked it up. The bylaws also say:

But the first page of the forum under welcome is the following.
We will also highly welcome our brothers and sisters on their fulldressers.

So with your in-between bike with a windshield are you still welcome? It seems as though naked and full dressers are the only types of wings addressed.

It's okay. Say a couple of "Hail Mother Honda" and maybe throw in something like "Our father who art the road, asphalt be thy name..." and all will be forgiven.
