for those of you that have M.B.S. (multiple bike syndrome) and have the "silver wing" models.
as our sponsors also have supplies for those bikes and they are popular with the "wing" crowd.
In spite of 10 F degree temps (-12C for Canucks) when I tried the CX 650 E today, she started up. Full choke, no throttle. After about 10 minutes she started to backfire a bit, (choke off 30 seconds after she started).
Maybe the carbs are a little upset because she's been sitting for 2 weeks?

My CX500s have always been difficult to start when it's really cold. They barely run on one cylinder for a while then eventually kick in the other one. Once warmed up though I sure like the way they run.
I wanted one of those so bad... it was the first bike I met new that i wanted, BADLY, when it first came out, it reallly got my respect. so a couple years ago, i saw an ad for one, didnt run, 300 bucks. I went and got it, it was all there, the engine turned by foot, but little did I know. the heads and radiator had been pulled, and slapped back together, the ignition system had been tinkered (and given up) as well. I took it all apart, found that the engine was busted internally, and gave it away. i'll try again some day, soon. I'm not sure which I admire more, the goldwing, or the cx500.
The beauty of the the 650c is how over built the engine is. It uses the same crank setup as was used in the beefed up turbo cx. Therefore longer lasting, ect. I think it was only made for a couple years, as the Magna took over. Had a Magna too. It was fast, it was powerful, it was plastic, and dangerous.
I found the end of the internet

Like Don, I was really impressed with the CX500 the first time I saw one. Lots of innovation there with the pushrod 8 valve V twin engine, liquid cooling, tubeless tires, shaft drive, etc.. Couldn't afford one until many years later.
The only thing I didn't like about the 650 was the styling. The extra power and lower RPM on the highway was real nice though.
Here's one of my current CX500s. Just over 100,000 miles on it.
flooded mine once, and then it fired.... blew the baffles out of both mufflers dang! but what a bang! still regret I sold the bike

you guys are so mean! i am suffering. they all look great. I'll bet someone has a photo or two of the turbo bike as well, make the rest of us eat our livers.
Every guy should have several motorcycles. One should be a Goldwing, one should be a CX, and one should be a dual sport. For a long ride on good roads with a bunch of camping gear or a passenger I'll take the Goldwing. For a day ride on winding roads it's the CX. One up touring where I want to explore the back roads, it's the CX. Riding around town it's the CX.
Here's my other CX. I've done many many long trips on this bike.
