greetings and hi to all the members out there ! I am a newbie (I just joined as soon as I found this website) I live in lake don pedro ca. in case your wondering it in between Sonora, modesto, and merced with groveland and Yosemite up to the north I am so happy that I am not alone I just got my Goldwing it was almost given to me without warning .it happened so fast that I jumped at the chance and even if it is a small project it is in really good condition and I have already had it running for a small moment until I noticed a small gas leak so time to go through it anyway I didn't think that anyone noticed how cool and important the Goldwing is until I found your club I hope to see and hear a lot more from you all and hope to learn how to use the website as I am fairly green to hi speed internet so please give me some time to adjust to things hope to hear from you all soon

thanks for the response cyborg it will be great to have support and interest while I will be working on my "project" although I don't plan to do to much customizing I will be trying to mainly restore it to stock status with minor non permanent replacement of some custom parts its a 79 gl so most 75 to 79 parts are available??? thanks again

timing belts??? I will look into that I just got a manual an have seen them I plan to go through most everything before" I go for a ride" thanks!!

I love to see bikes that have been restored. But sometimes its easier and cheaper to customize then to restore. I look forward to seeing your restoration

I hope that I did it right if so you will see my 79 gw "naked" just as I brought it home although it had the saddlebags and fairing I took off asap and I haven't gotten very far yet but have been working with the carbs and put new plugs in it and its running good but I have a lot of work ahead of me still!!!

hey I have a question for any of you oldtime ngw vets could you tell me if a stock original 75-76 seat will fit a 79 ??? because I jumped the gun and got one and now I am worried that it may not fit but that's the look I am looking for so???? thanks ahead !!

Howdy from Calgary, and welcome to the club. I think your question on the seat has been answered in another section. Best to ask any technical questions in the GoldWing technical Section, a lot more folks look at that section each day, so you will get better, and quicker, answers there. Lots of helpful folks here, who are more than happy to share their GoldWing knowledge.

welcome to NGW, I recall when Lake Don Pedro damn was first built. I bet this year is is "Pond" Don Pedro. I worked two summers at Camp Mather, just outside of Yosemite and the Hech Hetchy valley

wow and I thought I lived in the middle of nowhere !! I am inpressed that several of you out there have been through here. my job is about 10 or 12 miles before Yosemite actually I work at Yosemite cattle co. a small 150 acre cattle ranch on hiway120 so as you can see I have a great area to ride with lots of long roads and highways and don't think that I take it for granted anyway thanks for your posts I enjoy all of them!!! and yes the lake is low but slowly rising we called it lake don puddle

WELCOME To the big NGW family, I am sure that seat will bolt right up, I had it the other way a 78 seat on a 77, All I can see is the 75-77 had different embossing on the vinyl seat cover, than the 78-79 seats.
