Smaller Air cleaner w/ Fatbob tank?

#1

Post by Tree »

I plan to go with a fatbob tank on my 1000, and am completely losing false tank... including the center section which houses the air cleaner.

wondering if you gents could recommend a low-profile air cleaner that will not be taller than the profile of the tank, as I plan to build a new center section, (following the lines of the tank) to house all the stuff attached to the stock box.

I have mocked the fatbob onto my bike (check the new avatar)
cool, eh? 8)

I have seen some nice small one for "single carb set up", I think you
need an adapter to make it fit.

Tree , this is what I fabricated to my stock GL carb plenum , and all under 4-1/2 " high so it don't take any room .
I've retained that stock rubber gasket for a snug fit .

Last pic is the stock GL plenum betewwn the carbs .

Sorry BlackGold , I thought that I answered about running in the rain here but I don't see the post . I've driven through some pretty heavy down pours with no ill efects af any kind . I'm asooming that the Partition plate inbetween the rad and motor blocks out the direct rain of any kind like a windshield in wind , and I've road like this for the last two seasons with optimul preformance .But I want to eventually add a K&N filter . Later Gents .
