Re: throttle cable instructions !
Some of the folks here are just using the pull cable, discarding the push cable. However, instructions can be had here: http://goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic ... 57c00161de This for a GL1100, you didn't mention what year of bike you were working on.

Re: throttle cable instructions !
I believe it will be the same. If you look at your bike and the provided website photos, you will see similarities as these model year bikes are quite similar.

Re: throttle cable instructions !
so im replacing my push pull cables today. interestingly the push cable seemed to rotted and im thinking that explains the slack i had in the throttle...my question is this...im putting on both new cables....should these cables be lubricated before they go on the bike? if so what, what kind of lube to use? thank you!

Re: throttle cable instructions !
I always lube new cables, and it's much easier before they are installed. I use actual cable lube; l rink the last stuff I bought was Liquid Wrench brand.

Re: throttle cable instructions !
lube check.
cables on check.
re-assembly of the throttle housing. not checked....
so everything seems lined up, and before i place bolts back on i can hold housing in place and it closes all the way.
something is happening when i put screws in that a gap is created.
any tips on that?
also, anyway to tell how much slack is just enough in throttle? if im reading these directions correct minor adjustments made on bottom and and major by the twist grip.
for the record i have a 77

i had the same 'gap' problem, but resolved it to my satisfaction by alternating the tightness of each screw until it attained a 'look.' re the adjustment, i believe you're on the money

Yea... I did as much. Now trying to figure out if there is to much tension in throttle or good as is. id kinda like it a tad looser but not certain what to make of these fasteners

i hear ya, a tad too loose though and you're twistin' your wrist all sorts of angles to keep those revs on cue... which can get annoying

Re: throttle cable instructions !
finished the project today. it seems the throttle cable is good. maybe slightly too loose, but then again maybe just right. was quite happy that the bike sat for ~8 months, moved cross country had false tank + electrics removed, put these cables on. for someone who has not been very hands on this bike, i think i did good. ill take it

Re: throttle cable instructions !
ill have to see...something tells me i have more than that but maybe im wrong.
if i do have too much play, what cable is the best to adjust and what position?
it was kind of dumb luck that i got it to where it is.

Re: throttle cable instructions !
i think there's only adjustment on the pull cable: at the grip, and under the false tank
