RIDING TIME IS UPON US

#1

Post by BIG T »

esteemed members of this site. the time to wear the flashing on the new tires and break in the new mods on YOUR bike is NOW!
but.....

this is also a time of caution and safety.
i know, i know, ... but, being a rider of some recklessness DOES GIVE ME THE RIGHT TO CARE ABOUT MY BROTHER BIKERS.
those fine folks in their SUV,s and hot rods and work trucks are the LAST people to think they would cause a motorcyclist any problems, but guess what? most of them don't have a clue. not all their fault either.
they "didn't see him" or "i had the right of way" or "the bike only uses 1/2 the lane, so i used the other half" and lest we forget..." his loud pipes frightened me so i ran over him".
so brothers and sisters of two and three wheels, i recomend that you grow about 6 more eyes, extra large ears and 4 more arms so YOU can avoid those folks that didn't see your lights, bright paint jobs, tons of chrome, and the occasional hand gesture so that they dont say " helen , was that a speed bump?" as they run over another "biker"

please have a great riding season ....BUT BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!

Yeah, keep your eyes wide open! You have to view everyone as a possible enemy for you and you're bike.

I've already had a couple of close calls. I'm glad the horns sound like an old Buick.(wakes people up). Theres an old biker saying: "It's not IF you will crash, but when". You just have to pretend that you're the invisible man, and assume that nobody can see you and your bike. 'Cause the pavement don't give.

A good season to you to Big T and to all other WINGERS.
The summer has finally arrived here in Oslo. 1,5 monts to late.
About safe riding. It is important to make your bike as visibile as possible. In Norway we have a law that says that all cars and bike have to use lights 24 hours a day. On top of that i have made my front turnsignal lights to glow? al the time. Looks great to

close calls

I also have had a few close calls this season. but there was a news item on our local spanish channel. a car doing about 80 mph rammed the back af 6 sport bikes doing about 55 mph. the video was painful to watch as the bikes and riders were thrown into the air and then impacted on the pavement like bombs. plastic, bodys and parts all over the highway. i don't have any other details as i don't speak spanish, but the pictures tell the tail.

p.s. the cars driver was unhurt and was on his cell phone while the meat wagons were picking up the bodies.

BEWARE!...........T.     :!: censored2

Winters the best season for riding down here in So Florida summers too hot and too many Hurricanes and rain. You think they can put AC on the wing  They all drive like they are from Central America anyways, oh they are.

Leaving in a few hours to ride the Grand Canyon..it will be closed next year forever..to private vehicle traffic. It's going to be about 110* here in Tucson...should be near 115-117* in places along the way..

I never can sleep well before a ride..will be out for a week..Canyon..then Utah..meet some friends riding up fron San Diego..

I am a desert rat...riding in close to 120 degrees...

I'll be taking the VTX1800C on this one..the GL will be enjoying the garage..

It deserves the rest..we been together since new 2/76..it's been there..through the heat..up the mountains..never a missed beat..

I'll be back ..and usually jump on the GL for a quick ride..after a 2000 mile journey..

The only place I feel real peace..the only time I'm me....second fill up...250-300 miles away...alone in the desert...100 miles from nowhere...

Awesome...

See ya' next Sunday....
