If your Type II Clarion radio is stuck on one channel, you may have a bad button tactile switch. The original switch seems to have relied on some sort of soft foam to return after being pressed. After 30 years, there isn't much of it left. All buttons on mine were stuck, which "freezes" the radio and makes it unresponsive. For just a few dollars, you can replace the bad buttons and be back on the road. Here is what I did.
Step 1: Remove the control unit by removing the 4 allen keys and gently pulling the unit away from the base.
Next, pull off the control knobs. They are lightly pressed on and can be pulled off by hand. There is a rubber seal under the knob. Make sure you put these in a safe place.
There are two screws on the back of the unit that must be removed.
Once these are removed, there are 2 screws and 2 posts that need to be removed. The metal circuit holder will come out of the plastic housing.
Remove the retaining nuts from the control knobs. They are lightly retained by a dab of paint.
The back of the holder unclips, and the circuit board can be unscrewed and lifted out, along with the knobs. If your unit is like mine, all the switches will be stuck in the depressed position.
Luckily, P/N TL59FF160Q is a direct replacement for the failed switches. They are the same height and pin spacing. Here you can see the failed switch (black) next to the replacement.

Using a solder sucker, desolder the bad switches and replace them one at a time.
Installation is the reverse of disassembly. Borrow your wife's nail polish and put a dab on all the screw heads to mimic the original paint threadlocker.
Reinstall, and enjoy your working radio!

The manufacturer is a company called e-switch. You can buy it at digikey or mouser.
They are about 30 cents each.
