Fan switch solution..

#1

Post by 5speed »

After ordering the switch from rock auto like others did only to find out the thread was to small..I've been doing some digging along with a friend at our local NAPA store.
This is what we've found.
This switch has the required 18mm x 1.5 thread https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/ ... /overview/
You can order a new connector off fleabay.

I ordered the switch and I'm going to hopefully get a used connector from a local salvage yard. I will keep everyone posted on if it works.

well..the switch fits. dancr
however..unless you live in the US..the ebay seller won't ship the connector to you. :(
It apparently fits a broad range of honda's and acura's but going through the various models on rock auto I haven't been able to find that style connector..

Apparently the seller hasn't been doing it right. Ebay now has an address in Kentucky to send any and all items that go to overseas addresses. It goes there first then ebay gets it to the buyer. It works very well.

it is a completely different style connector. my switch was bad as a previous owner bypassed it.
I am not a fan of bypassing anything as a permanent fix so..here I am. lol

There is a good fix for the fan switch in ShopTalk.

read thru all those. the switch I have is the same as the Borg Warner # TFS600.
I took my old switch apart and the "needle" wasn't stuck..so I'm assuming it is fubar.

It sure looks like it. I will double check the orientation of the locking clip and "key" before I say for sure.
the price differences on e-bay are crazy..who would pay $117 for a connector.

This is very helpful for my situation. Got stuck in gridlock traffic and the temp needle started to rise a bit high. I had to pull over so that an overheating situation didn't arise, and that's when I noticed that the fan wasn't on. I pushed on the rubber boot over the temp sensor connector and the fan started up. It would only stay on as long as I kept pressure on it. After a while, I got it to work, more or less, but it's very sporadic. The problem really needs to be dealt with. Parts have been ordered, Thanks for the info!
