Flat engine beauty
It’s not as pretty as a gl1000? But it’s nice.

That is a work of art. How about that really cool hand shifter. Probably not a H pattern shift though.

Re: Flat engine beauty
Yeah, but if you think Honda parts are expensive you don't want to look at BMW parts prices. I was quoted $800 for a 12V generator to fit the R69 engine I had in my Dnepr in the early '90s so I bought an old GL1000 instead. One of my better decisions.....
But there is something about the Lub..lub..lub of a flat twin, isn't there?

Wonder how well it cools. No VW tins and blower. In traffic, I suspect it might get hot.Buli wrote:Buli wrote:I encountered such a beauty today. Its made from Dniepr whith VW 1600 engine. It's a nice one.

Re: Flat engine beauty
I contemplated doing something like that in the '90s when the BMW engine I had in my Dnepr died but my fabrication skills weren't up to the job so I bought a 'Wing instead.
Re cooling: The main reason a VW needs all those shrouds is because the engine is inside a compartment. Lots of them have been used in bikes with no more cooling issues than any other air cooled engine.
