Compression
Just tested compression on my 1982 1100.3 cylinders over 150 and one cylinder at 136. What is considered good compression, the bike has 108,000 kilometers on it.

Re: Compression
Ride the heck out of that one. Most folks don't start worrying unless they're below 120 or so. That outlier "might" suggest a valve issue. I'd adjust them and test again. Hopefully, not burnt. Unlikely to be rings - they usually tend to wear evenly.
Bottom line: your numbers are completely rideable.

Sounds good to me, still wondering what numbers a refreshed top end might get.

Re: Compression
Factory spec is 171. I have never seen one of those. 150-160 is probably what most of us are running.

Re: Compression
Still getting the bike sorted out,new seals for air shocks are on order.Good to hear that my numbers are good. I HAVE only put a 200 km on her since getting her last November but seems to have lots of power compared to my airhead. Planning on a trip to Prince Edward Island in mid June need more shakedown miles to gain trust that I have attended to all needs.

Yes to changing timing belts. Also shortened clutch cable and new stainle ss steel front brake lines to work with aluminum street bike bars.seat rebuilt . Bike debated and simplified. Have not tried yet to post any photos..

Re: Compression
So your engine sat for a while. Try your compression again after a thousand miles. Lots of people find lower compression after sitting a while which improves with use.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

Re: Compression
The bike had 2 owners prior to me .The original owner till 2013 who put on 68,000 km and the second owner from 2013 to November 2017 who put on 40,000 km. Bike has bee n ridden well the last 4 years . I am going to recheck number 2 cylinder since it was the first I did and confirm that I had the throttle twisted fully open.

Re: Compression
Just FYI..
On goldwings 75 to 83 165+ EXCELLENT!!! 160-165 GREAT; 150-160 REALLY GOOD; 145-150 OK; 140-145 STILL OK; BUT GETTING DOWN THERE 140- TIME TO REBUILD ACCORDING TO MANUAL..BUT SHE WILL STILL RUN JUST FINE ALL THE WAY DOWN TO 100 or so.
One thing compression numbers should be close, within 5lbs. or so of each other..one way off is suspect..needs to be looked into. Dirty/bent/hangin/set wrong valves?? worn or miss aligned rings? head gasket issue??
