Hello from CA.
I have always loved the naked Goldwings and found this gem locally for under $100 and had to have it. Its is supposed to run but I am not worried if it doesn't. I rebuild bikes and suspension as a side job so if I have to get into the motor I'm not scared. Got the paperwork all taken care of and its registered so that hurdle is complete. This makes my 40th bike I've owned and can't wait to tinker with it. It came with no rear shocks and a flat rear tire. That really sucked bad trying to get it into my trailer. Anyway the concrete form stake rear struts will be replaced with a set of V-Rod shocks that I am cleaning up now. Ill post progress as she comes alive.
Plans so far:
Get it running to see how the health of the motor is.
Change the belts.
Rebuild the carbs.
Go through brakes and rebuild.
Ditch the running boards and go back to stock pegs.
Ditch the crash bars.
Find some sportster mufflers.

looks like a good start. I found the ergonomics of aftermarket running boards is all wrong for a wing. the case guards are always nice if the bike rolls over..... not that I have had that happened when I parked a bike over the past 40+ years

I've never had running boards before and agree that they just feel funny. The shifter side linkage is too loose and clunky for me and I don't like to have to pick up my foot to apply the rear brakes. If I wanted a clunky Harley I would have bought one.
So much information on this site. I have ordered a Hanes manual but I am doubting that I will need it other than for fluid and torque specs.
