Vetter touring pack.

#1

Post by Bohdan »

Greetings Folks,

I got a touring pack too to go along with the front. It includes the top box and the saddle bags. Regarding the turn signals, does the "stalk" that is mentioned in the write up instructions totally required? Can't I just simply transplant the signals to the new location on the vetter saddle bag structure? Cheers

the stalk was of a different length than OEM so that the signals would fit properly in the indentation in the bags. You could transplant or redo the lights anyway you want it would just take some fabrication

I noticed my Vetter had aluminum stalks, I'll check to see if something else fits. It seems like I used some chrome ones when I put them back on. My trunk mount was broken, clamped and patched so I put a luggage rack on with a removable back rest for long trips.

I must have ben remembering my 79. My 78 has the aluminum ones 3" long not counting threads. But in my parts box I found at least one late chrome turn signal from something with 3" threaded stalks, late 750 maybe? It's in awful condition but there are 3" ones out there. The Vetter ones have a different thread because they won't work in the stock tail light bracket.
That's everything I know, hope it helps.

yes, the vetters have a nut that goes on, and probably SAE thread, or could be just finer. Ditto on the aluminum (a-lo-min-I-um in England)
