Triple tree bolt size?

#1

Post by JAG »

I have 78 gl1000 that I’m fitting wire wheels and forks from early model gl1000.

I don’t have the bolts to go into the triple trees to tighten the forks. Does anyone know the length and dia of those 4 bolts?

Thanks!

Look here.

If you look at the earlier schematic for #15 it gives the size. All I did was search a parts diagram on an online distributor. Anyone can do this. Useful for lots of information. ;)

These part number descriptions aren’t correct.

#7 upper steering stem fork bolt - 10mm x 35mm

Doesn’t fit.

#15 lower steering stem fork bolt - 6mmx40mm

doesn’t fit either.

Any other suggestions?

These bolts are directly from the '78 I'm playing with right now. The left pair are the upper, obviously hex cap screws, 10x35mm, but with 1.25 thread pitch (fine thread). The right pair are the lower bolts, 10x40, 1.25 pitch as well.

Thanks so much. I think the coarse/fine thread is where it’s not working.

I’ll try those out!

I believe almost everything on a Honda is 1.25 mm fine thread, except the smaller bolts which are 1.0 mm. Probably JIS.
