New here, not new to motorcycles

#1

Post by 507Derek »

Hey everyone. The name's Derek. Bought a 1980 GL1100i about a year ago. Did a lot of maintenance and repaired things the previous owner screwed up. Stripped it down a bit and rode the crap out of it last summer. This year I've completely changed most everything on it and I'm getting close to being finished with the next stage. Once I am, I plan on posting a build thread. I'm pretty confident there isn't anything else like it (but not in a crazy what the heck is that kind of way).

I've ridden motorcycles for around 12 years. Every bike I've owned I've tinkered with and added my own style to. Always thought the old Goldwings were really cool, and have been a fan of the flat 4 engine for a long time.

This forum has already helped me out a lot and I'm hoping I can return the favor soon!

Post a few more times and start a build thread. I remember what I was told years ago, "If there are no pictures it didn't happen!" I'm looking forward to seeing what you're up to with your wing.
Goldwings don't accelerate, they gain inertia.

1978 GL1000 - almost stock SOLD
1979 GL1000 - Winter project/parts bike - custom "Busted" STILL BUSTED
1983 GL1100 Standard- raised from the dead and back to organ donor status
And the newest acquisition, 1979 Yamaha XS 650F to be a sidecar tug. crossy.gif

Thanks everyone! Almost got it finished up today. Hopefully tomorrow she's ready for the road and I can start on the build thread.

Haha! With any luck I will be. Weather's going to be bad for the next few days though.

Got it running today! Need to finish up a few things and then I'll be ready to ride for the year. It turned out even better than I expected it to.
