Re: My 77 GL full custom build
Congratulations on BOTM. Really cool build.
Avatar is a summer '21 photo of the Blue Phoenix, our 1983 GL1100I rescue gone naked.
In the Stable and Ridable
1992 ST1100
1992 XJ600S - streetfighter
1987 VFR700 - oh so close
1983 - GL1100I - naked Blue Phoenix
1982 GL1100I - naked bagger Cabernet
1979 GL1000 - Ginger Lynn, but not that Ginger Lynn (Wing and a Prayer)
1978 CB550K - cafe (likely carb issues still vex)
Active Project(s)
None - I do need a winter project before the snow flies (I'm eyeballing a 1978 GL; I may take on the sad 1980 GL behind the house; or there's the '76 CB in the corner)
Sold
Not lookin' back to avoid regrets

Re: My 77 GL full custom build
Amazed at how the Wing rotors match up so well with the Kawi calipers and forks. Did you have to make spacers, axle, and other parts to get in all in harmony?

Re: My 77 GL full custom build
Custom axle, the GL wheel runs 1/2" axle and the ZX runs 1" a bit wider. Centered the wheel with spacers machined for the new axle and the yea the rotors ligned up without mod.

The carbs are not real webers, eBay knock-offs. I did rejet with Weber jets, they perform really well I'm pleased with them.wannabridin wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 8:51 pm excellent build! love how open up and narrow everything seems.

I built the manifolds from plate and pipe. Pretty straight forward fab.
