Re: 1977 gl1000
I have also thought about getting a stripped down Valk, and putting Jenvey throttle bodies on it, would resemble the Weber IDF conversion found on the Wings. Would need to fab up a manifold for them to sit on.

Yeah in this build the guy did tons of custom fab work, the manifolds being a small part of that. I’m gonna post the link to the video here so you guys can also see what I’m trying for. Not so much the look. While it’s beautiful, that’s too much fab work. Just the sound is what I’m going for

Yes, that bike is something else. That was the one I got my idea from, but I would put it on a bike that looks more like this...
As far as the sound, I always wanted the cobra or two brothers 6 into 6 for that sound, but I found that Viking exhaust sounded better in my ears.

Re: 1977 gl1000
Unfortunately somebody beat me to the bike, so I won’t be wrenching on a Valkyrie anytime soon. Will keep my eye on the market until another one pops up. For now the only ones I see are complete and well taken care of. Will update if I find another one

Re: 1977 gl1000
Welp, I finally got my hands on a Valkyrie. After a nice little 400 mile round trip and a sore back I now own a 1998 Valkyrie F6C. The best part about this bike to me is that I have a title for it (none of my other bikes had a title). The PO said he was having electrical problems and had to jump the starter relay to turn the motor, and that there was no spark. So my first move will be to dive into the electrical and figure that out. Other than that it’s carbs and fuel tank next. The bike is pretty complete, just scattered. I have it stored at a friends house to work on it but when I get a chance I’ll throw the tank, seat, and side covers on and take a couple pics for yall. Once I get down to it I’ll be making a new thread as well. Thanks for the help and support, yall are great

Sounds like a great project bike. Bet you have it all figured out soon. The question is how long did it sit not running? Honda never designed bikes to sit around unused so that can affect many items.

Re: 1977 gl1000
Ya know, out of all the questions I asked the guy that’s the only one I didn’t ask. I still have his contact info as he has other parts for the valk laying around his property that he wants to ship to me. I can ask him, but after getting my gl1000 back from the dead I’m not too terribly worried about it

Re: 1977 gl1000
Congrats on the new bike. Valk’s are kind of known for a bad connection on the starter button. Which may be why he had to jump the solenoid. As to no spark, that can be a few things on them. Some easy, some a little harder.
