I don't know whether the battery seller told my wife the new battery needed to be fully and correctly charged
before being put into service.
note: the very tight fitted cardboard box contained no internal documents to state the new wet charged battery should be fully charged, first. Not even a single, "an initial charge is required ", advisement was to be found anywhere on the outside of the printed box, as well.
She did recount to me, though, the seller had recommended I should charge the battery every 30 days if I wasn't starting the bike's engine for an extended period.

I believe Patricia described the fire event, the injuries to me and the trike, et cetera, etc.
anyways...
We arrived home, I removed the new LEOCH MX18-3 AGM battery from its box, then dutifully probed its neg. and pos. terminals with my voltmeter's test leads.

wow!!

the Lesson here is ... please don't assume a new wet charged battery is,
although you may have been assured it already was, Fully Charged
before you place it under its first work load .
