Is anyone here using one of these Chinese KNOCKOFF electronic ignitions?

I just bought this Dyna S clone off of ebay to try in my current project. It was $42.59 shipped.
No paperwork - No instructions and possibly No work, But it was cheap compared to the $130. Dynatec.

Yes. It has been gaining popularity since Cedric published this document last year. March,2022.

No. I haven't. My GL1000 *trike* ;) has utilized a Dyna S and Dyna ignition coils since mid-2012.

Dynatek Dyna S documents that might be useful, too

Actually with cheap Chinese electronics I have had very little luck in long term usage. They generally break sooner than later and their performance is marginal.

Are the legit Dyna actually not made in china? It'd be unusual these days if not.
Lots of reasons a genuine one may still be higher quality even if it is a direct copy, or off the same assembly line
in some cases. Or not, it all depends. My 79 had what I assume is a Dyna something on it when I got it, and it'd been off the road for at least a decade if not several. Still seems to work.

A follow up after starting this thread...
I installed this ignition on my project engine and so far everything is working just fine.
I've got no complaints with this ignition, now lets see how long it lasts.

Exactly like the Dyna S.
In fact, I used the instructions from a Dyna that I have for reference and everything was the same.
Fitment, alignment, adjustment. All good.

I now have an almost new Dyna and this "Dyna" as spares, so I should be good on GL1000 ignitions for a while.
Ironically, my only road going 1000 is still using points.

My Dyna S left me stranded a coupla hundred miles from home.
One of the pulse sensors took a dump after warming up.

My diagnostic skills weren't good enough. Thought it was a coil.
I have extra Dyna parts as well as one of the Chinese knockoffs
just in case.

I've got one for my CB750 in case I ever get fed up with the points. I had to file the edges a bit to get the plate to fit in the engine when I mocked it up, but otherwise it seemed fine. There's a guy on the 750 forum who's ran a set for 2-3 years and a couple thousand miles with no issues, so who knows?
1997 Valkyrie- Light Cutomization, but Too Busy Riding
1980 KZ1300- Bike's Haunted
1976 GL1000 (Yellow)- It Runs (Poorly) and Doesn't Leak (Mostly)
1974 Velosolex 3800- Better Than Walking
1972 CB750- Broke the Chain And Ate the Motor
1969 CT90- The Most Fun You Can Have on 90ccs.
1965 CA77 Dream- Needs a Full Teardown, but Complete

All advice I give is only valid until an expert corrects me.

In the 13 years and 40k miles since I put mine together - I'm on my 4th "real" Dyna. The first one lasted about 6 months.
The failure mode was always the same when one side died and 2 cylinders would quit working.
So I don't really see a downside to using that cheap one. I would buy two though. Ya just never know.
