Re: 1979 engine project
Also a fancy schmancy front fender and "bumper" with fairly sedate engine guard. Looks like maybe a recover of the stock seat. I like the ride and operation of the '79s. I'd almost rather leave the Vetter on than go through obtaining the headlight ears and healing the wounds from the Scotchlok connections.

Re: 1979 engine project
Well, I posted here about another bike but I'm sure that it would be a derail to this topic so I deleted it here and will start a separate thread.

Re: 1979 engine project
Update:
This engine project is back up on the lift.
Last week I wired it, gave it some fuel and it fired right up - IT LIVES !
The electrical setup on my test stand has always been a pretty hillbilly affair.
You know... twisted together wires, things hanging off the frame, zip ties, jumper cables, etc.
I mounted all of the electric stuff on an old cutting board to clean things up.
Looks pretty good and works well.
It's time to start fine tuning this engine.

Re: 1979 engine project
Well... %$##@ !
Oil out of the weep hole.
After giving the engine a good running in, I came out to find this.
New water pump, seals, crush washers, etc.
Oh well, there is always something, Right?
I'm not too discouraged as this this is the first issue to arise and now is the ideal time to address it.
Just got to getting my head around to doing it.
